The house itself was built in 1908 by the young Swedish architect Anders Lundberg. ref name NHA Bunge was a big Richard Wagner fan and there were many tiles in the house with pictures referring to the opera Tristan and Isolde . The small tempel at the end of one of the park lanes still has a tile design, the last remnant of a whole collection of them that had been used to decorate the house with. Two of them have been reinstalled in the Bloemendaal city hall to commemorate the villa. During the Second World War the house was used as a sanatorium for wounded soldiers and suffered some damage. The Dutch Military Victims Association still has a magazine named the Kareoler . Despite local efforts to restore the house, it was demolished in the seventies and an apartment building was built on the same spot. The park grounds have been preserved. Het Slaakhuis is a squatter squat in Rotterdam , the Netherlands . Het Blok is a Netherlands Dutch reality series running since 2004 on Net 5 . The program is based on the Australian series The Block . The program shows 4 couples who have 77 days to build and model an apartment. The construction happens while the couples hold their regular day jobs, so only evenings and weekends are available to the couples. They are each given a 30,000 budget with which to buy supplies, such as paint and lighting supplies. Every two weeks, the couples must have one room of their apartment ready for judgement. A jury reviews the rooms that are finished and the winner of each judging get an extra prize usually extra money . After 77 days, each apartment is judged as a whole, and the apartments are valuated. The couple who has the apartment that has risen the most in value wins an extra 50,000 and wins the apartment. Seasons 1 through 4 In 2004 and 2005, both apartment complexes were located somewhere in Amsterdam . In 2006, the format of the show has changed to add extra tension to the show. In this new format, there are again four apartments to be built but five couples to build it. Couples will go through various contests to see who will build which apartment, and who will eventually be asked to leave. The 4th season, running from September 2007, shows a new location as Het Blok has moved to Haarlem . Supposedly the series has returned to its original format, leaving out the surprises that were introduced in the third season. Biography Born in Odessa in the Russian Empire today in Ukraine , Het was educated at a heder and a gymnasium school gymnasium before attending Odessa University . In 1917 he joined Tzeiri Zion , and became deputy chairman of the All Russia Maccabi sports Maccabi central committee. He was a member of the Jewish self defence organisation in Odessa. In 1919 he made aliyah to Palestine, and settled in Haifa the following year. He later studied law at the Jerusalem Law School, and was certified as a lawyer. In 1935 he became chairman of the Maccabi central committee, serving until 1939. Between 1944 and 1948 he was a member of the Jewish National Council . From 1947 until 1948 he was a legal advisor to the Haganah s supreme command, and following independence, worked for the Ministry of Defense Israel Ministry of Defense . In 1949 he became chairman of the Haifa branch of the General Zionists, and was also a member of Haifa city council. In 1951 he was elected to the Knesset on the party s list, but lost his seat in the Israeli legislative election, 1955 1955 elections . Also in 1951 he became president of Israel s Olympic Games Olympic committee, a position he held until 1956. In 1957 he became president of the World Maccabi Federation. He died in 1990.
