oneref date August 2010 A distributed databasemanagementsystem DDBMS is a software system that permits the management of a distributed database and makes the distribution transparent to the users. A distributed database is a collection of multiple, logically interrelated databases distributed over a computer network. Sometimes distributed databasesystem is used to refer jointly to the distributed database and the distributed DBMS. Overview Distributed databasemanagement systems is a software for managing databases stored on multiple computers in a network. A distributed database is a set of databases stored on multiple computers that typically appears to applications on a single database. Consequently, an application can simultaneously access and modify the data in several databases in a network. DDBMS is specially developed for heterogeneous database platforms, focusing mainly on heterogeneous databasemanagement systems HDBMS . See also Heterogeneous DatabaseSystem References M. mergeto Relational database discuss Talk Relational database Merger proposal date October 2011 Refimprove date March 2009 A relational databasemanagementsystem RDBMS is a databasemanagementsystem DBMS that is based on the relational model as introduced by E. F. Codd . Most popular databases currently in use are based on the relational database model. A short definition of an RDBMS is a DBMS in which data is stored in tables and the relationships among the data are also stored in tables. The data can be accessed or reassembled in many different ways without having to change the table forms. External links http www.dbdebunk.com Database Debunkings by Fabian Pascal . These applications are typically called smart agents as they generally provide an abstraction above the communication layer and may also provide a GUI using Swing Java Swing or Standard Widget Toolkit SWT . The Java DynamicManagement Kit Java DMK provides a set of Java classes and tools that allow easy development of secure monitoring and management solutions based on the Java Management Extensions JMX specifications and on the Simple Network Management Protocol SNMP standards. Java DMK is a toolkit that allows you to build monitoring and management solutions that answer the main challenge faced by networked environments today, namely dynamic maintenance. Such solutions are based on smart agents and result in faster problem resolution, reduced network traffic, less human intervention, and a means of managing complete systems or networks in an integrated way. Java DMK 5.1 is the first commercial implementation of the latest versions of the JMX standards, JMX 1.2 and JMX Remote API 1.0, and is an all in one offering for building secure, interoperable monitoring and management solutions on the J2SE 1.4.2 platform. The simulation can then make predictions about the entity regarding how it will change and what its future state will be. The simulation is then continuously adjusted with data gathered from the entity. The predictions made by the simulation can then influence how and where future data will be gathered from the entity, in order to focus on areas of uncertainty. Intelligent agents will be required to make these decisions with regard to which data to absorb, when it should be absorbed, and how it should be absorbed. Many of these simulations are inspired by older models used to make predictions about physical systems i.e. weather forecasting, oil exploration, etc ref name Darema .
