For example, if one has a sorted list one will use a search algorithm optimal for sorted lists. The book was one of the most influential computer science books of the time and, like Wirth s other work, extensively used in education Fact date March 2009 . For the meaning of the terms in programming Static memory allocation Dynamic memory allocation Unreferenced date February 2007 In computer science , a static data structure is a data structure created for an input data set which is not supposed to change within the scope of the problem. When a single element is to be added or deleted, the update of a static data structure incurs significant costs, often comparable with the construction of the data structure from scratch. In real applications, dynamic data structures are used, which allow for efficient updates when data elements are inserted or deleted. There exist methods, called dynamization , to convert static data structures into dynamic ones. Static data means the data that occurs one time during its lifetime. Once it is created it cannot be deleted or modified. Static data is the root of dynamic data and linked with dynamic data as index of it. An example of a static data structure, in Java programming language Java , is an Array. When declaring an Array its size has to be specified, this size is static i.e. it cannot be changed. Data can be inputted into each location in the Array, but after a location has been filled, it cannot be emptied. An example of a dynamic data structure, in Java programming language Java , is a Vector. A Vector has a dynamic size, i.e. its size fluctuates with the new data added to it. Also any location can be edited and or deleted without any hassle. Category Data structures sr ... more details

Personal Structures is an international contemporary art platform, which generates the possibility for artists and art historians to discuss philosophical concepts in art . Personal Structures was initiated in 2003 by the artist Rene Rietmeyer . At first, the platform took shape in the form of exhibitions. Later on, in 2005, symposia were added as means for expressing thought. The first Personal Structures symposium was held at the Ludwig Museum in Germany . Personal Structures developed in the years after. In 2007 and 2008 a symposium series was organised about the concepts time , space and existence . Artists who have been involved in Personal Structures are, amongst others, Joseph Kosuth , Wolfgang Laib , Roman Opalka , and Lawrence Weiner .
