    The office of Minister of Customs was a position in the Cabinet of Canada Cabinet of the Government of Canada responsible for the administration of customs revenue collection. This position was originally created by Statute 31 Vict., c. 43, and royal assent assented to on 22 May 1868. From 3 December 1892, the Minister s position was cancelled in favour of a Controller of Customs position which was treated as part of the Ministry collective executive Ministry , but not part of the formal Cabinet. A similar change was also made to the Minister of Inland Revenue portfolio at that time. The Controller of Customs became part of the Cabinet on 24 December 1895 when John Fisher Wood became a part of the Queen s Privy Council for Canada Privy Council . The position once again became known as Minister of Customs with the passage of Statute 60 61 Vict., c. 18 which was given royal assent on 29 June 1897.     trade bloc A Customs war , also known as a toll war or tariff war , is a type of economical conflict between two or more states. In order to pressure one of the states, the other raises taxes or tariff s for some of the products of that state. As a reprisal, the latter state may also increase the tariffs. One of the latest toll wars happened in 1920 s and 1930 s between the Weimar republic Weimar Republic and Poland . The earlier state, led by Gustav Stresemann wanted to force Poland by creating an economic crisis to give up its territory and increased the tolls for coal and steel products developed there. As a reprisal, the Poles increased toll rates for many German products. This led to fast development of the port of Gdynia , which was the only way Poland could export its goods to Western Europe without having to transport them through Germany. In September 1922 the Fordney McCumber Tariff named after Joseph Fordney , chair of the House Ways and Means Committee , and Porter McCumber , chair of the Senate Finance Committee was signed by President Warren Harding ref Rothgeb, 2001, 30 32 ref . In the end, the tariff law raised the average American ad valorem tariff rate to 38 percent. Trading partners complained immediately.     The Customs of Cambodia Chinese is the English translated name of the document written by the Chinese diplomat Zhou Daguan roughly pronounced Joe Da gwan during his stay at Angkor between 1296 AD and 1297 AD. Zhou s account is of great historical significance because it is the only surviving first person written record of daily life in the Khmer Empire .
