Life File East Indiaman Asia.jpg thumb 300px The East Indiaman Asia Little is known of Huggins early life but he was recorded as being a sailor in the service of the East India Company . During his voyages he made many drawings of ships and landscapes in China and elsewhere. He eventually settled in Leadenhall Street , near East India House in London , England, and practised his art as a profession, being specially employed to make drawings of ships in the company s service. His work, both original and as prints, found a ready market amongst merchants and seamen. In 1817 Huggins exhibited a picture in the Royal Academy , and continued to exhibit occasionally up to his death. He also exhibited at the British Institution from 1825 onwards. He became a marine painter to George IV of the United Kingdom George IV and to William IV of the United Kingdom William IV for the latter painting three large pictures of the Battle of Trafalgar . Huggins died in Leadenhall Street, London, in May 1845. Huggins started his football career in the Ovens and Murray League where he took the field for Rutherglen. He then spent some time at Williamstown Football Club Williamstown before being signed by Fitzroy for the 1929 VFL season . His stint at Fitzroy wasn t successful, ending after just four matches owing to a dispute with the committee. Huggins, a ruck rover, was also a policeman by profession. The North Melbourne team of the early 1930s was particularly weak and in his initial season with the club he didn t experience a win. It wasn t until 1932 that he played in a winning side, ending a streak of 22 consecutive losses, which stretched back to his time at Fitztoy. Having left the VFL for good, Huggins returned to Williamstown, where he was appointed captain coach and said to be the highest paid one in the country. A dual best and fairest winner, he also took out the Recorder Cup in 1937. Biography John Huggins was born in New Haven , Connecticut where he attended Hopkins School , although ultimately left and graduated from James Hillhouse High School . He was briefly enlisted in the United States Navy before attending Lincoln University Pennsylvania Lincoln University in Chester County, Pennsylvania Chester County ,Pennsylvania, where he met his wife Ericka Huggins . They moved together to Los Angeles and both became deeply involved in the Black Panther Party. They had one child Mai Huggins . Huggins and fellow Party leader Bunchy Carter were gunned down by members of the US Organization during a 1969 meeting at UCLA . In 1971, documentation of the Federal Bureau of Investigation s counterintelligence program, COINTELPRO , came to light, revealing that the tensions that existed between the Panthers and the US Organization were intentionally created, or at least aggravated, by the FBI. An FBI memo dated November 29, 1968 described a letter that the Los Angeles FBI office intended to mail to the Black Panther Party office. This letter, which was made to appear as if it had come from the US Organization, described fictitious plans by US to ambush BPP members.
