The schools catchment area extends out to the area of Colinsburgh but accepts pupils from town such as Leven, Fife Leven , Kennoway and Largo . History Lieutenant Andrew Waid 1736 1804 , an Anstruther man, left his money for the founding of Waid s Orphan Naval Academy for the sons of poor mariners and fishermen. For a variety of reasons it was not possible for his wishes to be carried out in the years following his death, and for much of the 19th century his will was ignored and the value of his estate accumulated. At last in 1884, Commissioners appointed under the Educational Endowments Scotland Act of 1882, proposed a scheme for his money to be used for the creation of a secondary school to serve the East Neuk of Fife. On 6 September 1886, The Waid Academy opened for the first time. It was the first school in Scotland to be created under the 1882 Act and its constitution became a model for other schools which were created or changed as a result of the Act. The Waid ... distinguish Marc Alessi Cleanup date July 2007 Mark Alessi is an American businessman who has been the Chief executive officer CEO of a number of companies, most notably as founder of comic publisher CrossGen where he created a number of the titles. Biography Alessi s first major company was Technical Resource Connection, Inc, which he founded in 1986. He was CEO of this company until 1996, at which time the company was sold to Perot Systems Corporation . He later, in 1998 in comics 1998 , became founder and publisher of CrossGen CrossGen comics , which subsequently liquidated in 2004 in comics 2004 and the company and its assets were sold to Disney . He is now the CEO of TOA Solutions, Inc, a company that he founded in 2004. Controversy Though Alessi rapidly built CrossGen into a major player in the comic book field, former CrossGen editor Mark Waid , now editor in chief of Boom Studios , was scathing in his indictment of Alessi s management style in a 2009 interview with Ain t It Cool News . He described his tenure as a CrossGen editor as akin to being first mate on the Pequod , and described Alessi as a spoiled eight year old with a checkbook and the biggest bully I ve ever met in my life and, coming from a lifelong comic book geek, that s one hell of an indictment. According to Waid, Alessi would scream at illustrators till he was red in the face if some minor detail displeased him, and often went so far as to make grown men stand in a corner or send them home for the day. Waid summed up the company s existence by claiming that though CrossGen produced some good books... none of them were issued by CrossGen so much as escaped FROM CrossGen. ref http www.aintitcool.com node 40896 Shoot the Messenger Q&A with Mark Waid , AICN Comics , April 27, 2009 ref References reflist External links More footnotes section date November 2010 http www.toasoftware.com TOA Solutions, Inc official webpage dead link date November 2009 http www.the trades.com article.php?id 1631 Inte ... more details
