Refimprove date September 2008 Tom Waits for No One is a Rotoscoping rotoscoped short movie starring Tom Waits , singing The One That Got Away to an apparition. Produced and directed in 1979 by John Lamb , it was amongst the first music videos created specifically for the then up and coming MTV market, and was slated for release in 1980. Filmed live, and then edited down to five and a half minutes, the live frames were then painted over using a video rotoscope and converted to animation. It is held every spring at the beginning of May, on the same date as the Grete Waitz Run, in later years renamed to V rspranget Eng. the Spring Step or Spring Leap , a 5 kilometre run on level ground through Oslo, intended for amateur female Exercise runners and joggers .
