  1. Very Large Business Applications

A Very Large Business Application VLBA is a Business Application, which can be implemented through different types of Business Application Systems as well as through System Landscapes. They support one or more processes of business application fields like accounting, human resources, logistic, distribution or marketing, in which at least one of those processes is a business process. According to that, a VLBA is directly successfully effective and has a strategic relevance through the support of possibly inter company business processes. An organization might not be able to fulfill its core businesses efficiently without the help of a VLBA. It is a strategic dependency of the constituted organization, which is given by an application of a VLBA. That is because changing or turning the system away is associated with big financial, organizational and personnel related costs. Furthermore, VLBAs do not have any spatial, organizational, cultural or technical limits. VLBAs are similar to a Business Information System in the manner that they can support several Business Application Fields and in this case, they are based on several types of Business Application Systems. VLBAs are found in different fields within the different organizations regardless of their size. Systems of Enterprise Resource Planning ERP , Supply Chain Management SCM and Customer Relationship Management CRM are examples of a VLBA. Within a Supply Chain, small and middle organizations can participate in a VLBA. Furthermore, VLBA indicates a field of research. CHARA is the World s highest angular resolution telescope at near infrared wavelengths. It is located at the Mount Wilson Observatory , near Los Angeles, California . The CHARA Array is an interferometer formed from six 1 meter 40 inch telescopes arranged along three axes with a maximum separation length of 330 m. The light beams travel through vacuum tubes and are combined optically, requiring a building 100 meters long with movable mirrors to keep the light in phase as the earth rotates. CHARA began scientific use in 2002 and began routine operations in early 2004. In the infrared, the array has an interferometric imaging resolution of 0.0005 arcseconds . 1. Judy array

In computer science and software engineering , a Judy array is a complex but very fast associative array data structure for storing and looking up values using integer or string keys. Unlike normal associative array array s, Judy arrays may be sparse that is, they may have large ranges of unassigned indices. Judy arrays are designed to keep the number of processor cache line fills as low as possible, and the algorithm is internally complex in an attempt to satisfy this goal as often as possible. Due to these cache optimizations, Judy arrays are fast, sometimes even faster than a hash table , especially for very big datasets. Despite Judy arrays being a type of trie , they consume much less memory than hash tables. Also because a Judy array is a trie, it is possible to do an ordered sequential traversal of keys, which is not possible in hash tables. Roughly speaking, it is similar to a highly optimised 256 ary trie data structure. ref Alan Silverstein, http judy.sourceforge.net application shop interm.pdf Judy IV Shop Manual , 2002 ref To make memory consumption small, Judy arrays use more than 20 various compression techniques to compress trie nodes. 1. Parallel array

. This is a valuable way of speeding up access to very large structures with many members, while keeping the portions of the structure tied together. An alternative to tying them together using array indexes ...In computing , a parallel array is a data structure for representing array data structure array s of Record computer science records . It keeps a separate, homogeneous array for each field of the record, each having the same number of elements. Then, objects located at the same index in each array are implicitly the fields of a single record. Pointers from one object to another are replaced by array indices. This contrasts with the normal approach of storing all fields of each record together in memory. For example, one might declare an array of 100 names, each a string, and 100 ages, each an integer, associating each name with the age that has the same index. 1. Control array

multiple issues confusing January 2010 notability January 2010 unreferenced January 2010 orphan July 2010 wikify January 2011 Control Array mostly used in Visual Basic is the collection of controls that programmer put it in form VB Form . Control array is always a single dimensional array . Control array is that you can add or delete array elements at run time. With some controls, it is very useful to define control arrays it depends on the application. Control arrays are a convenient way to handle groups of controls that perform a similar function. All of the events available to the single control are still available to the array of controls, the only difference being an argument indicating the index of the selected array element is passed to the event. Hence, instead of writing individual procedures for each control i.e. not using control arrays , you only have to write one procedure for each array.
