    Valens Acidalius , also known as Valtin Havekenthal 1567, Wittstock &ndash 25 May 1595, Nysa, Poland Neisse was a Germany German critic and poet writing in the Latin language. Acidalius was the son of a pastor working in Wittstock. He studied at the universities of Rostock , Greifswald and Helmstedt . Even in his early youth, his Latin poems caused a stir. In 1590 he accompanied his friend Daniel Bucretius Daniel Rindfleisch to Italy where he published his first literary work, an edition of Velleius Paterculus . Acidalius studied philosophy and medicine in Bologna and was awarded a doctorate degree in both disciplines. He was however not attracted by the practical work as a medic and therefore concentrated on the criticism of classic works. He returned to Germany in 1593 after several fever attacks, moving to Breslau , the home town of his friend Bucretius. In spring 1595, he accepted an invitation of his friend and supporter, the episcopal chancellor Wacker von Wackenfels to Neisse. There he died of a fever at the age of only twenty eight years.     Valens Comyn 1688 25 March 1751 was an English merchant and administrator and politician who sat in the House of Commons from 1747 to 1751. Comyn was the fifth son of Rev. Robert Comyn and his wife Martha, and was baptised on 4 June 1688 at East Molesey , Surrey where his father was vicar and also headmaster of nearby Kingston Grammar School . ref East Molesey parish registers ref His elder brother was a friend of the influential Robert Harley, 1st Earl of Oxford and 1st Earl Mortimer Robert Harley and in January 1712 Comyn was appointed to a position in the HM Customs and Excise Excise Office . Comyn s title by 1716 was Assistant Accomptant for duties on Hides. In 1718 he was appointed to the position of Clerk to the Worshipful Company of Parish Clerks , a minor livery company of which his father in law James Lucas was a member. Through this, Comyn was required to live at the Hall of the Company in Wood Street. In 1726, Comyn was selected as accountant for the Corporation of the Sons of the Clergy . The post had been in abeyance, but 1726 the council decided to appoint an accountant at a salary of 40 per year. An election was held with Comyn in nomination with two others. He obtained 20 votes and was elected. It consists of the only live performance of Valens ever recorded. On December 10, 1958, Valens, having completed a recent tour of Hawaii, gave a performance at his old Pacoima Jr. High School. The show was emceed by Gail Smith, a close friend of Ritchie s who would later become president of the Ritchie Valens Memorial Fan Club in Los Angeles. Valens guitar and vocals were only accompanied by drummer Don Phillips. The concert was taped using a small portable tape recorder. After Valens untimely death on February 3, 1959, numerous Ritchie Valens Fan Clubs were formed all over the nation. By late 1960, with no further records released since the Ritchie album a year before, Valens manager Bob Keane received letters en masse from fan club members who were hoping there were more of Ritchie s songs to be released.
