Drafted by the Kangaroos in the 6th round of the 1999 AFL Draft , Makepeace made his AFL debut in 2000 and was a key player in the Kangaroos back line for many years. In 2005 he represented Australian international rules football team Australia for the 2005 International Rules Series International Rules Series . In 2006 AFL season 2006 Makepeace found his playing time limited, as he played just 12 games. At the end of that season, the seven year veteran was delisted by the Kangaroos. Not picked up by an AFL club, Makepeace played for the VFL s Casey Scorpions in 2007. Troy has since returned to the club he was originally plucked from, the Moe Lions, and is Captain Coach of the club. George Makepeace Towle 27 August 1841, Washington, D.C. 9 August 1893, Brookline, Massachusetts was an United States American lawyer, politician, and author. His is best known for his translations of Jules Verne s works, in particular his 1873 translation of Around the World in Eighty Days novel Around the World in Eighty Days . Life Towle graduated in arts from Yale University in 1861 and in law from the Harvard Law School in 1863, and practised in Boston in 1863 5. He was United States consul representative consul at Nantes, France, in 1866 8, and in the latter year was transferred to the consulate at Bradford, England, where he remained until his return to Boston in 1870. One of his many prominent friends was Charles Dickens , to whose periodical, All the Year Round , he contributed several articles on American affairs. Towle became president of the Papyrus club in 1880, and was a delegate to the Republican national convention at Chicago in 1888. He was managing editor of the Boston Commercial Bulletin in 1870 1, and foreign editor of the Boston Post in 1871 6, and became a contributor to many foreign and American periodicals and took an active part in the literary life publishing over 50 books and articles and giving public lectures on topics of the day. In early 1873 Towle started collaborating with the American publisher James R. Osgood on translations of Verne. He continued to translate the Verne novels until the bankruptcy of the firm in 1876. The translations are of a uniformly high quality. On 16 September 1866 in Paris, Towle married Nellie Lane of Boston, who survived him. Mary Lou Makepeace has led the Gay & Lesbian Fund for Colorado as executive director since 2003. She also serves as vice president for Colorado programs of the Gill Foundation. Prior to joining the Gill Foundation, Mary Lou was the executive director for Leadership Pikes Peak, where she managed an array of community leadership programs designed to develop leadership skills and promote civic involvement. She was Colorado Springs first female mayor, serving from 1997 to 2003. As mayor, she led a nine member city council, served as chairman of the board of Colorado Springs Utilities and provided oversight to city owned Memorial Hospital. In addition, she is an adjunct faculty member for the Center for Creative Leadership at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, as well as running the Mary Lou Makepeace Group. From 1974 82, Mary Lou was a caseworker working with child abuse cases, and an administrator for the El Paso County Department of Social Services. She then served as executive director of the Community Council of the Pikes Peak Region, assisting in the development of the Montgomery Center for the homeless, Project Cope to assist low income and elderly with utility bills, and the award winning Golf Acres Senior Services Complex. She led the child placement agency, STAY, Inc., from 1995 1997, providing out of home placement services to troubled adolescents. Her experience also includes being a teacher at the American School in Tananarive, Madagascar assistant to the Defense Attach at the American Embassy in Prague, Czechoslovakia following the Soviet invasion and the adult education officer at Ramstein Air Force Base in Germany.
