Orphan date February 2009 Refimprove date September 2007 Image Briansubb&w.jpg thumb A submissive male A slave journal is a diary kept by the submissive partner in a Dominance and submission power exchange relationship, often at the direction of the Dominant partner. The Submissive, or slave, may be required to document things such as number of times they have used the bathroom, detailed descriptions of their bodily functions or other extremely personal information. They may be required to write down any and all Human sexual behavior sexual acts that transpire in extremely graphic language and read it aloud, or have the Dominant read it to them, with or without other parties present. There are many online slave journals, which facilitate public humiliation of the Submissive. They may similarly be required to keep a punishment journal, in which they must detail all aspects of punishments they have received. Purpose Slave journals generally serve at least two functions. The first is as a tool to cause humiliation and embarrassment for the submissive partner. It is an extremely effective reinforcement implement to remind the Submissive that the Dominant knows everything about them and that there is no way to escape his or her hold over them. The second function of a slave journal is to enable the Dominant to track the Submissive s Mental health frame of mind to ensure that things are not becoming too much for the submissive. This is because it is essential to the power exchange relationship that all limits be respected and all issues be addressed immediately. The slave journal creates a way for the submissive to talk to their Dominant without risking repercussions and a way for the Dominant to assess the submissive accurately. If used correctly, they can be a useful tool in creating a safe, happy power exchange relationship. Another function of the slave journal is to focus the mind of the slave on their place, their experiences, and to process it all fully. A journal ... more details

image Meno Socrates drawing 29.gif thumb Meno s young house slave house slave receives a problem based learning lesson in Euclidean geometry under Socrates in dialogues of Plato Plato s dialogue Meno . Meno s slave is a character in the Socratic dialogue , Meno , which was written by Plato . Socrates demonstrates his method of questioning and recollection by interrogating a slave boy who works in Meno s house. This house slave is ignorant of geometry. The subsequent discussion shows the slave capable of learning a complicated geometry problem. In this way, Socrates shows Meno that learning is possible. Indeed, the dialogue earlier demonstrated Men s failure to benefit from Socratic teaching. The discussion of Socrates and the house slave By drawing geometric figures in the ground Socrates demonstrates that the slave is initially unaware of how to find twice the area of a square. Socrates then said that before he got hold of him the slave who has been picked haphazardly from Meno s entourage has spoken well and fluently on the subject of a square double the size of a given square 84c . Socrates comments that this numbing he caused in the slave did him no harm 84b . Socrates then draws a second square figure on the diagonal so that the slave can see that by adding vertical and horizontal lines touching the corners of the square, the double of its area is created. He gets the slave to agree that this is twice the size of the original square and says that he has spontaneously recovered knowledge he knew from a past life 85d without having been taught. Socrates is satisfied that new beliefs were newly aroused in the slave.
