Unreferenced date January 2011 Nature And Organisation is the creative musical works of United Kingdom British musician Michael Cashmore . The music of Nature And Organisation is characterized by a mix of acoustic, classical and folk structures met with abrasive electronic instrumentation. Overview Cashmore has also been a member of the group Current 93 since the late 1980s. He has collaborated with many artists, including David Tibet , Douglas Pearce , Steven Stapleton , Antony , Marc Almond and Rose McDowall . Cashmore wrote most of the music for Current 93 after the departure of Douglas Pearce in the 1990s. During a long silence after 1998, it was unclear if Nature And Organisation still existed, as the official Nature And Organisation website was no longer online, and Cashmore released no official statements since the release of the 1998 album, Death in a Snow Leopard Winter . Since then World Serpent Distribution has dissolved and all Nature And Organisation material is out of print. In 2006, after breaking his silence with a new official MySpace page, Michael Cashmore released a new album under his own name entitled Sleep England on Durtro Jnana Records. This was followed in 2007 with the mini album The Snow Abides with vocals by Antony, and a collaborative album in 2008, Gabriel and The Lunatic Lover with singer Marc Almond . A stovepipe organisation is one where the structure of the organisation largely or entirely restricts the flow of information within the organisation to up down through lines of control but inhibits or prevents cross organisational communication. Many traditional, large, organisations especially governmental or transnational are, or risk falling into, a stovepipe pattern. Intelligence organisations may deliberately adopt a stovepipe pattern so that a breach or compromise in one area cannot easily spread to others. A famous example of this is Bletchley Park an allied forces Second World War codebreaking centre where messages encrypted by the Enigma machine Enigma Machine were decrypted where people working in one hut would not know what the people in any other hut did. A stovepipe pattern is most likely to develop in organisations that have some or all of the following characteristics Very hierarchical with sharply defined roles or areas of influence e.g. regional sales teams Long reporting lines i.e. lots of intermediary layers of management and narrow spans of control each manager only has a small number of direct reports Departmental organisation of Information Technology , Human Resources and similar functions, especially where applications and services are procured departmentally rather than via a central procurement section. Culture of suspicion or a dictatorial management style. Multiple sites or sub sites within a larger site where staff have little chance to interact on a regular basis with staff from another site. Formed by the merger of two organisations or the acquisition of one organisation by another. A stovepipe pattern can be very harmful to a commercial organisation as it can lead to duplication of effort in different parts of the organisation and, in extreme cases, unhealthy competition between different branches of the organisation. Strategies to avoid this can include Centralisation of Information Technology , Human Resources , Procurement and similar ... more details

Didactic organisation is the ability of neuron s within a network to impart their pattern of synapse synaptic connectivity and or response properties to other neurons. The term didactic is used because this kind of influence is unidirectional each individual instance of didactic organisation between two connected neurons does not involve a bidirectional transfer of connectivity or response property information between them. Experimental and theoretical evidence Evidence for didactic organisation in vivo was first discovered through research into synaptic reorganisation in primary visual cortex that compared the results of neuronal recording experiments and computational models ref name Young Young et al. , 2007 ref . However, the tendency of spike timing dependent plasticity to separate neurons into teachers and students had previously been predicted in theory based on computational modelling results alone ref name Song Song and Abbott, 2001 ref . Spike timing dependent plasticity Didactic organisation is primarily a consequence of spike timing dependent plasticity, because when the neurons ... ingredient for didactic organisation, other features of neuronal activity appear to be required for didactic organisation to occur in vivo . One of these features is that activity propagated ... organisation in vivo concerns the spatial scale of spike propagation within a network. While it is expected that didactic organisation will always be present among neurons that exhibit spike timing dependent plasticity and causal activity see above , the spatial scale over which didactic organisation ... extent didactic organisation can occur ref name Young . The Pentropic organisation was a military organisation used by the Australian Army between 1960 and 1965. It was based on the United States Army s pentomic organisation and involved reorganising most of the Army s combat units into units based on five elements, rather than the previous three or four sub elements. The organisation proved unsuccessful, and the Army reverted to its previous unit structures in early 1965. History The decision to adopt the Pentropic organisation was driven by a desire to modernise the Army and ensure that Australian units were able to integrate with those of the United States Army. While the US Pentomic organisation had been implemented in 1957 to improve the Army s ability to operate during a nuclear war , the Australian organisation was optimised for limited war s in South East Asia in which there was a chance that nuclear weapon s might be used. Both structures were designed to facilitate independent operations by the sub units of Division military divisions .
