The raid and the subsequent fire destroyed many Livery Company Livery halls Livery Halls and gutted the medieval Great Hall of the City of London City s Guildhall, London Guildhall , destroying an area arguably greater than that of the Great Fire of London of 1666 . Some 1500 fire s were started, including three major conflagrations consequently, causing a firestorm . In 1666, however, the devastation was overwhelmingly within the City proper in 1940, it extended far beyond. The largest continuous area of Blitz destruction anywhere in UK Britain occurred on this night, stretching south from Islington to the very edge of St Paul s Churchyard. St Paul s Cathedral itself was only saved by the dedication of the London firemen who kept the fire away from the Cathedral and the volunteer firewatchers of the St Paul s Watch who fought to keep the flames from firebombs on its roof from spreading,. Unreferenced date October 2008 Gnosticism Second Treatise of the Great Seth is an apocryphal Gnostic writing discovered in the Codex VII of the Nag Hammadi Codices. This writing sticks out among Early Christian writings in that it depicts a Christ who did not die on the cross. Instead, it describes Christ as inhabiting the body of the man Jesus, but leaving the body before the crucifixion. The idea that the crucifixion did not involve Christ dying appears only in a select few early Christian texts that have been rediscovered.
