Sager enjoyed two scientific careers. Her first was in the 1950s and 1960s when she pioneered the field of cytoplasmic genetics. Her second career began in the early 1970s and was in cancer genetics she proposed and investigated the roles of tumor suppressor genes. RuthSager was born in Chicago, Illinois ,one of three daughters og Leon B. Sager,an advertising executive,and Deborah Borovik. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Chicago in 1938, master s degree in plant physiology from Rutgers University in 1944 and doctorate in maize genetics under Marcus Rhoades from Columbia University in 1948. She then worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the Rockefeller Institute on the chloroplast from 1949 to 1951 and from 1951 to 1955 was a staff member at the Rockefeller, using the alga Chlamydomonas reinhardi as a model organism. She was a research scientist from 1955 to 1965 at Columbia. Although her research was highly original and productive, she was not given a faculty position until 1966, 18 years after receiving her doctorate, when Hunter College invited her to be a Professor of Biology. Sager Creek is a small creek which runs through downtown Siloam Springs , Arkansas , the United States. It is named after the man largely thought to be the founder of Siloam Springs , Simon Sager . Simon Sager was the eldest member of the Sager children. The Sager family was a family of farmers from Tennessee that migrated into the Arkansas Territory. They crossed the delta into the Ozark Mountains. It is uncertain as to whether the parents contracted illness and died along the way or if they were killed by Osage Indians. The eldest of the children Simon continued on the journey westward guiding his siblings. Much of the trek was made on raft along the White River and its tributaries and across land. Eventually the clan made its way towards the plains and rafted the then uncharted Osage Creek into a tributary that was eventually named after its first white explorer Simon Sager. The children stopped along the creek and built a cabin and farmed the area near the town of Hico that eventually became the town of Siloam Springs Arkansas, named after the healing pool of water in the Bible. Siloam Springs was a health resort in the early 1900 s with a number of healing waters Downtown Springs, Indian Healing Springs and a few others. The present day town is remenise of its Victorian Heritage. The original Sager Cabin is on the grounds of John Brown University in Siloam Springs. She was one of the very first feminist activists and speakers for the modern women s movement in Sweden. She is also known for her part in the famous Sager Case 1848 , were she sued a man for attempted rape and won the case, which was one of the most famous Swedish criminal cases of her time. She was born to a wealthy family and was educated in a girls school. As an adult, she became poor and supported herself as governess . She wished to start a dress shop, and educated herself to a tailor in Stockholm in 1848. In Stockholm, she was offered a room by an elder man by the name of M ller. She accepted, but was attacked sexually by him in her bed at his house. She fought back, and frustrated by her resistance, M ller abused her badly, although she managed to resist an actual rape. She managed to escape his house and was given help by a doctor, who documented her injuries and encouraged her to report M ller to the police. During this age, it was very unusual for a woman to report a rape of her own free will, as it was considered very shameful, and the case was given enormous attention in the press. M ller claimed Sager was insane, but the court was convinced by the doctors medical report, and judged M ller as guilty of attempted rape and violence. After this, Sager became one of the first feminist activists of the new women s movement in Sweden, touring the country to speak of women s rights. Overview Born into a Jew ish family in London s East End , he joined the British Army at the age of 14 as a band boy, and as a result of his natural ability was sponsored by the Army to study at the Royal College of Music . He is the younger brother of Terry Burns medical inventor and picture framer Terry Burns born Mark Sager the medical inventor and picture restorer. His musical career was interrupted by the Second World War , during which he fought with the British Expeditionary Force World War II British Expeditionary Force in France and was evacuated from Dunkirk . Following a brief spell in England he was transferred to North Africa, where he served from 1941 to 1945. He left the British Army in 1945 and returned to civilian life as a musician, playing brass for some time for the Royal Opera, London Royal Opera at Covent Garden . RuthRuth is a pop punk band formed in New York City in 1993. The group is composed of Chris Kennedy Bass Lead Vocals Songwriter , Mike Lustig Guitar , and Christian Nakata Drums . The song Uninvited from their in 1995 Laughing Gallery album gained RuthRuth some success, including alternative radio play and a few months of MTV rotation. Jacob Sager Weinstein born January 8, 1972 is an United States American humorist, comedy writer, and screenwriter. For three years he was a staff writer for Dennis Miller Live , for which he received a Writers Guild of America award in 2001. Earlier he was a contributor to The Onion , and he has also written for McSweeney s McSweeney s Internet Tendency , the North American Review , and The New Republic . In 2005, Sager Weinstein co wrote, with Matthew David Brozik, a humor book entitled The Government Manual for New Superheroes . The Government Manual for New Wizards followed in 2006, and The Government Manual for New Pirates in 2007. Sager Weinstein has also written a screenplay adapted from the 1937 novel Journey by Moonlight novel Utas s holdvil g Journey by Moonlight by the Hungary Hungarian writer Antal Szerb . The film, to be directed by Istv n Szab , is still in production.
