The Colony of the QueenCharlotte Islands was a British colony constituting the archipelago formerly of the same name currently named Haida Gwaii from 1853 to July 1863, when it was amalgamated into the Colony of British Columbia . Unreferenced date November 2007 The QueenCharlotte Airlines was a Canada Canadian airline founded by Jim Spilsbury that operated on the West Coast of Canada from 1943 to 1955, when it was sold to Pacific Western Airlines . Though the airline began as bush flying operation, it grew to become the third largest airline in Canada at the time of its sale. The book The Accidental Airline , by Jim Spilsbury and Howard White, tells the story of the QCA. Queen Fabiola Mountains is a group of mountain s in Antarctica , convert 30 mi long, consisting mainly of seven small massifs which trend north south, forming a partial barrier to the flow of inland ice. The mountains stand in isolation about convert 90 mi southwest of the head of Lutzow Holm Bay . The mountains were discovered and photographed from aircraft by the Belgian Antarctic Expedition , 1960, under Guido Derom , on October 8, 1960, and named with the permission of the King for Don honorific Do a Queen Fabiola of Belgium Fabiola de Mora y Arag n , on the occasion of her wedding with King Baudouin of Belgium . In November December 1960, the mountains were visited by a party of the Japanese Antarctic Research Expedition JARE , 1957 1962, which made geomorphological and geological surveys.
