Image Kingston Maurward 1.jpg thumb Kingston Maurward Kingston Maurward House is a large Georgian architecture Georgian English country house set in a 750 acre 3 square km estate in Dorset situated in the River Frome, Dorset Frome valley two miles east of Dorchester, Dorset Dorchester . The mansion was built by George Pitt , cousin of William Pitt the Elder , between 1717 and 1720. The mansion was originally in red brick, but after derogatory comments from George III of Great Britain King George III , Pitt clad the house in Portland limestone . Much of the house is now used by Kingston Maurward College , though some of it is used for private functions. Thomas Hardy lived nearby and later referred to Kingston Maurward House as Knapwater House in his novel Desperate Remedies . The grounds of Kingston Maurward, which are used for the land based college, are open to the public and include the farm areas and extensive gardens. Both the house and grounds are owned by Dorset County Council. Also in the grounds is Kingston Maurward Manor House, built in 1590, an earlier mansion which was narrowly saved from demolition when the estate was acquired. Following refurbishment it is now a hotel. Image Spider Bridge.jpg 250px thumb right The Spider Bridge forms part of the Five Weirs Walk along the River Don from Blonk Street, near the centre of Sheffield, eastwards to Meadowhall. The bridge is held in place by a lattice work of suspension and tensioning cables and sits over the waters of the Don and below the railway arches of the old Victoria Station, now long gone. The Cobweb Bridge , also known as Spider Bridge, is located in the city centre of Sheffield , South Yorkshire , England , near the disused Sheffield Victoria railway station .It was completed in 2002. Its design was the solution to a difficult problem how to pass the riverside cycle walkway Five Weirs Walk under the massive Wicker Arches viaduct and at the same time link one bank of the River Don to the other. Without the bridge, the footpath would have had to make a one mile detour. Designed by Sheffield City Council s Structures Section, the entire 100 metres long bridge is suspended on a web of steel cables secured to the underside of the Viaduct, hence the name. The theme is completed by large steel spiders concealing the lighting on the ceiling. The bridge is prone to vandalism , the wires forming the parapet have been stolen more than once. VR photography , or virtual reality photography , is the interactive viewing of wide angle Panoramic photography panoramic photographs , generally encompassing a 360 degree circle or a spherical view. VR photography is the art of capturing or creating a complete scene as a single image, as viewed when rotating about a single central position. Normally created by stitching together a number of photographs taken in a multi row 360 degree rotation the complete image can also be a totally computer generated effect, or a composite of photography and computer generated objects. VR Panoramas are viewed through movie players, such as Apple s QuickTime software, which may be part of a Web browser plug in or a stand alone player application. QuickTime VR QTVR was the original interactive panorama format, but there are now a growing number of different players and plug ins. Many of these are based on Flash Video Flash , but some use Java software platform Java , SilverLight , custom programming using OpenGL and WebGL , and even JavaScript . The Apple Media Tool was a multimedia authoring tool and associated programming environment sold by Apple Computer Apple in the late 1990s. It was primarily aimed at producing multimedia presentations for distribution on CD ROM and was aimed at graphic designers who did not have programming experience. It featured an advanced user interface with an object oriented user model that made production of rich and complex presentations easy. History The AMT system was developed by Patrick Soquet , a developer in Belgium working for Arborescence a French company that was later acquired by Euro RSCG Havas . From 1993 onwards it was marketed by Apple but all development was done by the independent team led by M. Soquet. In 1996 development of the tool was taken over by Apple and the 2.1 version of the program was developed in house by a team of engineers in California led by Dan Crow computer scientist Dan Crow . In 1997 Apple decided to concentrate its multimedia offerings on QuickTime and HyperCard and the rights to AMT returned to Havas. Patrick Soquet acquired these rights and co founded Tribeworks iShell Tribeworks and developed a new tool based on AML, called iShell . Features The major features of the Apple Media Tool were a graphical authoring tool AMT itself and an associated programming environment the Apple Media Tool Programming Environment AMTPE which was a compiler and debugger for the underlying Apple Media Language AML also known as the Key language . AMT was notable as one of the first authoring systems to support embedding Apple s pioneering QTVR movie format. AML is an object oriented programming language based on Eiffel programming language Eiffel but specialized for multimedia programming. Although the AMT did not require any programming experience to use, it produced complete AML programs which were then compiled into byte code and interpreted by a runtime interpreter. The AMPTE could be used to enhance the AML code to create more complex programs, for e ... more details

Image Alexander Newski Kathedrale.JPG thumb 250px Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, Tallinn. The Alexander Nevsky Cathedral is an Eastern Orthodox Church orthodox cathedral in the Tallinn Old Town, Estonia . It was built to a design by Mikhail Preobrazhensky in a typical Russian Revival style between 1894 and 1900, during the period when the country was part of the Russian Empire . The Alexander Nevsky Cathedral is Tallinn s largest and grandest orthodox cupola cathedral. It is dedicated to Saint Alexander Nevsky who in 1242 won the Battle of the Ice on Lake Peipus , in the territorial waters of present day Estonia . The late Russian patriarch, Alexis II , started his priestly ministry in the church. Image Aleksander Nevski katedraal 2006.jpg thumb left Interior of the Cathedral. The Alexander Nevsky Cathedral crowns the hill of Toompea where the Estonian folk hero Kalevipoeg is said to have been buried according to a legend . There are many such legendary burial places of him in Estonia. The cathedral was built during the period of late 19th century Russification and was so disliked by many Estonians as a symbol of oppression that the Estonian authorities scheduled the cathedral for demolition in 1924, but the decision was never implemented due to lack of funds and the building s massive construction. As the USSR was officially non religious, many churches including this cathedral were left to decline. The church has been meticulously restored since Estonia regained independence from the Soviet Union in 1991.
