    One source date October 2009 Margaret Anne Doody born 1939 is a professor of literature at the University of Notre Dame , and helped found the PhD in Literature Program at Notre Dame http www.nd.edu litprog . She served as its director from 2001 2007. Although historical detective stories are now a flourishing genre, with Steven Saylor and Lindsey Davis being particularly prominent in the field of detective stories set in classical antiquity, back in 1978, when Aristotle Detective was first published, Doody was something of a pioneer in the genre. Recently she has added four more to the series featuring Aristotle as a 4th Century B.C. detective. There is also a novella, Anello di bronzo Ring of Bronze , currently available only in Italian. Doody s Aristotle books are published in Italy by Sellerio editore, which also produced a translation of The Alchemists. In France the mystery novels are published by 10 18. They are also available in Spanish, Portuguese and Greek individual novels have recently appeared in Polish and Russian. The first Aristotle novel has also been published in German. He also wrote for the television series FAQ U , was featured on The Mark Thomas Comedy Product , and in 1997 was a finalist on Channel Four s So You Think You re Funny competition. He was commissioned to write a study of American comedian Bill Hicks , Telling the Truth, Laughing The Life and Works of Bill Hicks but this has yet to be made available to the public. Students of Bishop Carroll High School Calgary, Alberta Bishop Carroll High School in Calgary were used as performers during Hidy and Howdy s four years as the mascots of the XV sup th sup Olympic Winter Games. After the Closing Ceremonies, they retired from public life, only ever reappearing once for the filming of the 1993 movie Cool Runnings for a brief cameo appearance, since the film is based on the Calgary Olympics.     Unsourced image removed Image groskloss1.jpg right Howard Hoffman Howdy Groskloss April 10, 1906 July 15, 2006 was an United States American second baseman in Major League Baseball who played for the Pittsburgh Pirates 1930 32 . Groskloss batted and threw right handed. Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania , the son of an opera singer, Groskloss graduated from Amherst College in 1930 and later attended Yale University while playing for the Pirates. In 1937, he became a doctor and practiced as a gynecologist in Miami, Florida for more than 25 years. He also was a flight surgeon in the United States Navy Navy during World War II . Groskloss was 24 years old when he broke into the big leagues with Pittsburgh. Among his teammates were Pie Traynor , Arky Vaughan , Gus Suhr , and the brothers Lloyd Waner Lloyd and Paul Waner . In a three season career, Groskloss posted a .261 batting average with 21 run batted in RBI and 14 run baseball runs in 72 games played games . Groskloss died in Vero Beach, Florida , at the age of 100. At the time of his death, he was recognized as the oldest living former major league player.
