He arrived in the Philippines in 1820 and established the Jalajala, Rizal Jala Jala hacienda in Morong present day Rizal province . Among the activities that he undertook were hog raising and planting indigo, sugarcane , and coffee. On June 23, 1837, Gironiere s efforts in the field of horticulture and agriculture were recognized by the Real Sociedad Economica de Amigos del Pais de Pilipinas winning 1,000 pesos for raising 6,000 coffee plants. He ensured good relations with the clergy by building a church and with his workers by building cockpits in the estate. Charles Paul Marin dela Malgue , 1633 &ndash 14 April 1713 , was an officer in the colonial regular troops. The first record of his activity is in 1682 when he set out from Fort Frontenac to investigate the death of a prominent member of the Seneca tribe . In 1688, he was released from duties to go to France his country of birth. He returned to Canada, resumed his military duties, and married Catherine Niquet in 1691. They had six children, four of whom lived to be adults and the eldest being Paul Marin dela Malgue . Charles Paul was mentioned by Governor Louis de Buade de Frontenac as being sent, along with Pierre Le Moyne d Iberville to attack Fort Nelson . The attack was cancelled because of inadequate ships. He has also been mentioned as a recipient of the Order of Saint Louis cross of Saint Louis but this does not appear in official records and was likely an invention of his heirs. He was born in Montreal and, as many of the prominent historical figures of his time, had a military career in the colonial regular troops. He was commissioned an ensign in May 1722, and in the same year he was given command of a post near Ashland, Wisconsin . His career was a military one with a significant amount of time spent south of New France in what is now part of the United States. His activities, which included the construction of Fort dela Rivi re au B uf Fort Le Boeuf are significant in the attempts of the French to secure a sustainable foothold in the Ohio region. His military successes earned him the Order of Saint Louis cross of Saint Louis but he died before learning of this honor.
