  1. Ultra lounge

Original research date August 2007 Unreferenced date August 2007 An ultra lounge is a style nightclub lounge, that came to prominence in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Ultralounges tend to be small to mid sized venues, featuring cocktails and an upscale atmosphere. Among the design details, ultra lounge style nightclubs may have subtly changing neon and vivid coloured lights, and seating groupings for people to socialize. Ultra lounge style clubs sometimes create privacy around the seating areas with room dividers, sheets or curtains. Unlike most nightclubs, ultra lounges rarely have a separate dance floor. Some clubs have semi private rooms with mattresses to lounge on and socialize. The music is often more subdued white room or ambient house type music instead of loud dance music or techno. These clubs offer a range of cocktails and drinks, and sometimes serve bar food such as tapas style finger food . Ultra Lounge may also refer to a series of 1950s to 1960s lounge music cds released from 1997 till 2009 from Capitol records, featuring artists like Martin Denny , Yma Sumac , Dean Martin, Tak Shindo and more. 1. Live Lounge

The Live Lounge is a segment on the United Kingdom British radio station BBC Radio 1 . Originally hosted by Jo Whiley on her mid morning radio show and now hosted by Fearne Cotton , it exhibits well known artists usually performing one song of their own and one by another artist, in an acoustic format. The Live Lounge itself is also a physical room in the Radio 1 studios, from where some of the performances are broadcast however, due to its size, many are done from the BBC Maida Vale Studios . The songs chosen as cover versions are often a completely different genre to that which the artist usually performs, and offer a new perspective on the original. Jamie Cullum s cover of Pharrell s Frontin led to Cullum being signed to Pharrell s label Star Trak when played to him at a later visit to The Jo Whiley Show , and was added to his 2003 album Twentysomething album Twentysomething . 1. Lounge Lizard

The term Lounge Lizard is usually used to refer to Lounge music lounge musicians , most often in a negative sense as tacky, tasteless, etc . Since its first appearance as American slang in 1917, lounge lizard has surprisingly shown up in nearly every decade. A lounge lizard is typically depicted as a well dressed man who frequents the establishments in which the rich gather with the intention of seducing a wealthy woman with his flattery and deceptive charm. The term presumably owes something to the cold and insinuating quality of reptiles. It has also been suggested that the name derives in part from the lizards, that is, shoes made from crocodile or snakeskin, that were sometimes sported by such men, but there is no solid evidence of this. Charles Plymell has written that Robert Branaman coined the phrase in the 50 s Wichita, KS in regards to those people that spend an excessive amount of time going from bar to bar. Eventually, the lounge lizard as social parasite decided to play chameleon and take on many appearances. Lounge lizard then became a generalized term applying to any frequenter of nightclubs. It may also refer to Applied Acoustic System Applied Acoustic System s electric piano emulator the Lounge Lizard EP Lounge Lizard .
