John Reuben Drake November 28, 1782 Pleasant Valley town , New York Pleasant Valley , Dutchess County, New York March 21, 1857 Owego village , New York Owego , Tioga County, New York was a United States House of Representatives U.S. Representative from New York . Life He was the son of Rev. Reuben Drake a Baptist minister from a line of wealthy landowners and Phoebe Sherwood. Drake completed preparatory studies and engaged in mercantile and agricultural pursuits, such as projecting the Erie Railroad New York & Erie Rail Road . He married Jerusha Roberts, with whom he had a daughter, Delphine Drake. He was Supervisor of the Owego town , New York Town of Owego in 1813 and First Judge of the Broome County, New York Broome County Court from 1815 to 1823. In 1823, he was one of three commissioners overseeing construction of the historic Tioga County, New York Tioga County Courthouse. Drake was a member of the Free Masons lodge of Owego. Drake was elected as a Democratic Republican to the 15th United States Congress , holding office from March 4, 1817, to March 3, 1819. There he served on the U.S. House Committee on Expenditures on the Public Buildings Committee on Expenditures on the Public Buildings . He was First Judge of the Tioga County Court from 1833 to 1838, a member of the New York State Assembly in 1834, and President of the Owego village , New York Village of Owego from 1841 to 1845. He was interred in Evergreen Cemetery. It serves both local traffic and connects to the Reading Blue Mountain and Northern Railroad in Pittston and to the Canadian Pacific Railway through their Delaware and Hudson Railway subsidiary at three separate junctions. It operates at total of 55 miles of track in and around the Wyoming Valley in Luzerne County. When formed in 1994 the railway incorporated tracks from a variety of defunct railroads, including the Pocono Northeast Railroad, Lehigh Valley Railroad, and Delaware, Lackawanna & Western Railroad. Major commodities hauled by the L&S include chemicals, packaging, building products, and food & beverage. The total number of cars transported in 2010 numbered at nearly 4000. The Luzerne Susquehanna Railway is headquartered at 25 Delphine Street in Owego, New York , as part of a holding company for four shortline railroads in the Twin Tiers .
