Current standings At the end of season 2008 09 Newbury RFC were one of five teams which were relegated in order to accommodate the restructuring of the division by the RFU, which saw the division reduced from 16 to 12 teams. At the end of season 2009 10 however, Newbury once again found themselves in the relegation zone and dropped into National Division Two South for season 2010 11. Budgetary constraints will see them relying heavily on home grown talent and it remains to be seen whether they will be able to successfully compete in the season ahead. The club does benefit from a good coaching and development scheme and it is hoped that their Colts will be able to provide a good supply of able youngsters who can slot into the team and step up to national level rugby.
