    The MRC Unit for Lifelong Health and Ageing established in 2008 is the new home of the National Survey of Health and Development NSHD . The National Survey of Health & Development is a Medical Research Council UK Medical Research Council MRC longitudinal survey of people born in Britain in March 1946. Originally designed to explore the impact of a National Health Service on health and to explore differences in child development by factors like social class, health and education, it has continued and has itself developed into a study of ageing. The regularly updated information about this cohort also contrasts with data from other longitudinal studies in Britain and elsewhere. The mission of the Unit is to realise the scientific potential of the NSHD as a world class, interdisciplinary life course study by Scientific discovery of life course influences on normal and healthy ageing Transfer of knowledge to policymakers, health practitioners, and other research users Promotion of healthy ageing The NSHD was formerly based at the London School of Economics under the direction of Dr. James Douglas dn and at the University of Bristol , and then the Department of Epidemiology and Public Health at University College London under the direction of Professor Michael Wadsworth . The survey now operates under the recently established MRC Unit for Lifelong Health and Ageing based in Bloomsbury , London , England , directed by Professor Diana Kuh. India Human Development in India Challenges for a Society in Transition. New Delhi Oxford University Press. Pp. 234 ref is a nationally representative, multi topic survey of 41,554 households in 1,503 villages and 971 urban neighborhoods across India . Two one hour interviews in each household covered topics concerning health, education, employment, economic status, marriage, fertility , gender relations, and social capital . Children aged 8 11 completed short reading, writing and arithmetic tests. Additional village, school, and medical facility interviews are also available. This survey was designed by Professors Sonalde Desai and Reeve Vanneman from University of Maryland and researchers from the National Council of Applied Economic Research . It was funded by the National Institute of Health .     Chinese title New Taiwanese Literature t New Taiwanese Literature , also referred to as Taiwanese New Literature or by the Japanese name Taiwan Shinbungaku , was a literary magazine published briefly during the period of Taiwan under Japanese rule Japanese rule over Taiwan . The editor in chief, Yang Kui , had previously been on the board of another journal, Taiwan Bungei , but left after a dispute regarding editorial policy and established New Taiwanese Literature . The first issue was published in December 1935. Yang supported the magazine with his own funds, soliciting contributions from not only local writers, but Japanese writers of the proletarian literature movement such as Hayama Yoshiki , Ishikawa Tatsuz , and Hirabayashi Taiko as well as Korean writer Ch Kakuch . ref citation title Under an Imperial Sun Japanese Colonial Literature of Taiwan and the South last Kleeman first Faye Yuan publisher University of Hawaii Press date 2003 pages 164 169 ref In total, 15 issues of the magazine went to press.     The New England Literature Program NELP is an academic program run by the University of Michigan that takes place off campus during the Spring half term. University of Michigan faculty and other staff teach the courses, and students earn regular University of Michigan credit. The program has been in existence since 1975. NELP is currently raising funds to endow a permanent directorship in the English Department to ensure NELP s continuation. The program takes place at Camp Wohelo on Sebago Lake in Maine . Early years of the program were held on New Hampshire s Lake Winnipesaukee , first at Camp Kehonka in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire Wolfeboro , and then at Camp Kabeyun in Alton Bay, New Hampshire Alton Bay . It lasts for six and a half weeks, with 40 students and 13 staff members participating each year. In addition to formal academic work in literature and writing, staff and students offer non credit instruction in canoeing, camping, art, and nature studies. Students also teach or co teach classes as part of the NELP program, and several three day hiking and camping trips round out the NELP curriculum. The program has a strict policy against drugs and alcohol, the violation of which will result in a student s removal from the program. Students at NELP also live without cell phones, iPods, recorded music, video cameras, and email computers.
