A Member of ProvincialParliament MPP is an elected member of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario Legislative Assembly of the Province of Ontario , Canada . The title titular designation Member of ProvincialParliament and the initialism MPP were formally adopted by the Legislature on April 7, 1938. He was the only son of Bowater Vernon 1683 1735 , who inherited Hanbury Hall , Worcestershire and large estates in Hanbury, Worcestershire Hanbury and elsewhere, from his second cousin Thomas Vernon lawyer Thomas Vernon who had died childless. He was brought up in London in the family home in Bond Street New Bond Sreet , and was only 11 when his father died. After a spell at University College, Oxford , he was elected as an MP for the Worcester UK Parliament constituency Worcester constituency in 1746 to fill the vacancy created by the death of Thomas Winnington 1696 1746 Thomas Winnington . He continued to represent Worcester till 1761. Vernon married Emma 1711 77 , daughter of Vice Admiral Charles Cornwall of Berrington, Herefordshire Berrington in Herefordshire . It seems he first married her in the Mayfair Chapel, notorious for conducting clandestine marriages, and perhaps went through a second marriage when it became clear that a record of the first was not properly kept. The son of Walter Erle Sir Walter Erle of Charborough 1586 1665 , Thomas was a barrister of the Middle Temple and a close friend of Anthony Ashley Cooper, 1st Earl of Shaftesbury Anthony Ashley Cooper , the future Earl of Shaftesbury. John Arundell of Trerice ca. 1625 1701 was a Cornwall Cornish Member of Parliament , ejected from the Long Parliament for his Cavaliers Royalist sympathies during the English Civil War . Arundell was the second son of John Arundell born 1576 Sir John Arundell of Trerice , head of one of Cornwall s leading families and a member of most of the Parliaments between 1597 and 1640. He was elected member for Bodmin UK Parliament constituency Bodmin in the Long Parliament and was one of those who voted against the attainder of Thomas Wentworth, 1st Earl of Strafford Strafford . In January 1644 he was disabled from sitting for deserting the service of the house, being in the king s quarters, and adhering that party , as also was Richard Arundell, 1st Baron Arundell of Trerice his elder brother who was Member for Lostwithiel UK Parliament constituency Lostwithiel . The elder son of the physician and Puritan Member of Parliament Peter Turner physician Peter Turner , he was the brother of the mathematician Peter Turner mathematician Peter Turner . He was educated at St Mary Hall, Oxford St Mary Hall BA, 1602 and St Alban Hall, Oxford MA 1604 , and was made a Doctor of Medicine at the University of Padua in 1611. He entered Parliament in 1625 as member for Shaftesbury UK Parliament constituency Shaftesbury , and immediately made himself prominent with attacks on the George Villiers, 1st Duke of Buckingham Duke of Buckingham , calling him the cause of all their grievances and declaring that it was unfit that he should hold so many great offices. His speeches so angered the Charles I of England King that he sent a letter to the House demanding justice but when the House ordered Turner to explain his words he did so by letter without appearing in person, and illness perhaps diplomatic prevented him taking his seat again before Parliament was dissolved.
