  1. Holy Qurbana

Holy Qurbana or Qurbana Qadisha q rb n qad , pronounced qurbono qadisho in Syriac language West Syriac Hindi Qurban e Muqaddas , the Holy Offering or Holy Sacrifice , refers to the Eucharist as celebrated according to the East Syrian Rite East Syrian and West Syrian Rite West Syrian traditions of Syriac Christianity . The main Anaphora liturgy Anaphora of the East Syrian tradition is the Holy Qurbana of Addai and Mari , while that of the West Syrian tradition is the Liturgy of Saint James . Both are extremely old, going back at least to the third century, and are the oldest extant liturgies continually in use. History The Syriac word Qurbana also spelled as Kurbana is cognate with the Hebrew word Korban . When the Temple stood in Jerusalem, and sacrifices were offered, Korban was a technical Hebrew term for some of the offerings that were brought there. It comes from a Hebrew root, karav , meaning to draw close or near . A required Korban was offered morning and evening daily and on holidays at certain times, additional korbanot were offered , in addition to which individuals could bring an optional personal Korban. The Holy Qurbana is referred to as complete worship, since it is performed for the benefit of all members of the Church. The other sacraments are celebrated for individual members. Thus the Holy Qurbana is believed to be the sacrament that completes all the others. Hence it is called the sacrament of perfection or the queen of sacraments . East and West Syrian traditions The East Syrian, or Chaldean, Rite was associated with the historical Church of the East , centered in the Persia n capital of Seleucia Ctesiphon . Today the Holy Qurbana of Addai and Mari is used in the Assyrian Church of the East , the Chaldean Church , and the Syro Malabar Church of Kerala , India . The West Syrian rite was associated with the Syriac Orthodox Church Syriac Orthodox Patriarchate of Antioch , also known as the Monophysite or Jacob ...   more details

Second Passover , is a minor Judaism Jewish Jewish holiday observance on the 14th of Iyar in the Hebrew Calendar . The holiday is mentioned in the Torah in bibleverse Numbers 9 1 14 HE of which the following text is a paraphrase. border 0 cellpadding 10 cellspacing 0 align center width 90 style background color EEEEEE Moses announced that the Korban Pesach Passover sacrifice Korban Pesach , or Passover domestic sheep lamb may only be eaten by people who are ritually pure. Men came to Moses, complaining that as people who came into contact with the dead, were on that basis ritually unclean, and were unable to fulfill the mitzvah of Passover . Moses consulted God who responded by announcing that anyone who was unable to sacrifice the paschal lamb on the 14th of Nisan , either due to defilement or inability to journey to the place of sacrifice in time, was under the duty to perform the sacrifice on the 14th of Iyar, a full month later, and only then eat the paschal lamb along with matzah and maror . In modern times, after the destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem and because of lack of access to the Temple Mount , Jews are unable to perform the Passover sacrifice, either on Passover or on Pesach Sheni. Some have the custom minhag to eat matzah during the daytime hours of Pesach Sheni in memory of the Korban Pesach . In Chassidic philosophy, especially as expounded upon by Rabbi Yosef Yitzchok Schneersohn , Pesach Sheni is about second chances, since the original Pesach Sheni was in response to people who had been unable to be included in the Pesach observance and were granted another opportunity exactly one full moon after the first Pesach ...   more details
