Before the incident in the bank, she began seeing her former lover, Ed Neilson, again with the understanding that it wasn t a relationship , but something distinctly more casual, as it fit both of their lifestyles better. After being released from the bank, her relationship with Ed seems to have graduated from casual to more serious, something Kathryn appears to cause some discomfort from time to time. The discomfort may come from the fact that she seems to hold some measure of attraction for Nick Cavanaugh . She often hails him as the reason why The Nine remain alive, and pays particular attention to his moods regarding the group. She confides in him first regarding a discovery about Eva Rios s potential connection to the robbery, but after the suspicions appear to be unwarranted, she is left with only a rift in her relationship with Franny Rios . Kathryn is also growing closer to Lizzie Miller , who confided that she was pregnant to Kathryn before she told anyone else in the group. Kathryn has been a support system for Lizzie, even leaving a trial when Lizzie was afraid she was going to miscarry. Later, Kathryn revealed to her mother that she had been pregnant before, but aborted in order to focus on her career.
