Kanaka Creek Regional Park is a regional park of the Metro Vancouver regional district, located in the District of Maple Ridge, British Columbia Maple Ridge , British Columbia , flanking both sides of Kanaka Creek from its confluence with the Fraser River just east of Haney, British Columbia Haney and extending approximately 11 km 7 mi up the creek to just south of Webster s Corners, British Columbia the community of Webster s Corners . The Riverfront area adjacent to the Fraser and British Columbia provincial highway 7 BC Hwy 7 has picnic tables and a boat launch, suitable for launching canoes and kayaks for navigating the slow moving waters of Kanaka Creek up as far as the 240th Street bridge. Refimprove date June 2007 Bhakta Kanakadasa is a Kannada movie, depicting the spiritual journey of Kanakadasa , who was a devotee and poet belonging to the Dasa sect. It stars Dr Rajkumar , Krishnakumari, Uday Kumar in major roles. Boasting of lilting tunes including the works of Kanakadasa himself, the songs were held in high esteem. Music was composed by M Venkataraju , the songs turned very popular, This movie was directed by Y R Swamy. Story line Kanaka, who is the chieftain of a fort wishes to marry a lass, played by Krishnakumari, much to the chagrin of his opponent, Uday Kumar . In a riveting battle scene, Kanaka is on the verge of losing, while Lord Krishna appears and asks him to surrender himself to divine grace. Man of high temper, Kanaka refuses and continues fighting. As fate would have it, Kanaka is mortally wounded and healed by Lord Krishna. Surrendering himself to the divinty, Kanaka becomes a dasa servant to the Lord. With his unflinching devotion, dedication, he gets the trust of a Guru. Inspired by his Guru to visit the historic Udupi Sri Krishna Temple, Kanaka reaches there, only to be denied entry. Kanaka is charged with defying law and is punished. His eyes are about to be gouged, Miracle happens. Lord Krishna s idol turns around, breaks opens the wall and offers Darshan to Kanaka. This supposedly led to the formation of Kanakana kindi . Kanaka is accepted as a true Saint by the society and spends his life singing praise of the Lord and composing poems on Lord, including Mohana Tarangini , Rama dhyaana charitre. Unreferenced date October 2010 Kanakana Kindi or Kanaka s Window is a small peephole in the Udupi Sri Krishna temple through which the great Indian saint Kanaka Dasa was given darshan by lord Krishna . History Kanaka Dasa was a great devotee of Udupi Sri Krishna, once he came on a pilgrimage to Udupi, as he was Non Brahmin, he was not allowed to enter the temple by Brahmin priests. Which to this day is remembered by the people of Karnataka as an insult by the priests on non Brahmins. It happened at the height of Muslim invasion of India and when the very survival of Hinduism was at stake. Kanaka Dasa was astonished by the behaviour of priests who behaved like the sole representatives of the god. So he began singing in the praise of the Lord, camping in a hut in front of Krishna Temple. So intense was the devotion of Kanaka Dasa, that without entering the shrine he was granted a sight of Krishna s image through a crack appearing on the western wall of the temple where he was camped. The statue of lord Krishna which was facing east is said to have turned towards west where Kanaka Dasa was camping. Irony The irony of the incident was that Kanaka Dasa belonged to Kuruba caste, the same as Vijayanagara Empire Vijayanagar Emperors. Harihara Raya and Bukka Raya of the same Kuruba Gowda caste were responsible for the survival of Hinduism in the whole of south India, when they established the great Vijaynagar empire to protect Hindu s and Hinduism from the onslaught of Islam .
