In 1925, a 200 watt Russian transmitter operating at Amplitude modulation AM 833 kHz was installed in Kabul Palace by King Amanullah Khan . This transmitter was destroyed in the 1929 uprising against the king.     Unreferenced date January 2011 Copyedit date June 2010 Kharabat is a historic neighborhood of Kabul , Afghanistan . It is located near Hinduguzar the quarter of Hindu and Sikhs . It has long accommodated musicians who have passed their art to the next generation. Kharabat has educated many famous musicians of Afghanistan in the Indian Patiali School. The quarter resembles a large Patiala school of Persian and Hindustani language Hindustani . Here music and singing are passed on from one generation to the next. In Kharabat and its surroundings Shor Bazar, Barana etc. there exist various workshops where typical Indo Persian music instruments are made. In this old and important part of town important Afghan musicians were born as well as the songs of the Indian Dari poets Ustad Qasem Jo , Ustad Natu , Rahim Bakhsh , and Mohammad Omer master of the Rubab instrument rubab . During the time of Ali Shir Khan it has become the centre of art and music and many great artists such as the Father Ustad Qasem Jo and predecessor of Mohammad Hussain Sarahang . During the rule of the Taliban many musicians emigrated from the historic quarter. Much of the city of Kabul was destroyed during the Soviet war in Afghanistan and subsequent disorder.
