    Everett Peck is an United States American illustrator , cartoonist and animator . He is best known as the creator of Duckman . Career Peck s drawings have been in The New Yorker , Playboy , Time magazine Time , as well as in books, comics and movie posters. He has had gallery shows in Tokyo, Los Angeles, New York, and Washington, D.C. Peck has written animated cartoons for Rugrats , The Critic , and a TV series based on one of his own cartoon characters, Duckman . Peck created the Duckman character for comic books. In 1994, it was turned into an animated series on the USA Network , where it ran for four years and won the CableACE Award , and was nominated for four Emmys . The New York Times , 2 January 1985. ref was an American journalist. He is well known for his testimony before the Senate Internal Security Subcommittee. He was married to Susan Peck and they lived together for more than 25 years in Hastings on Hudson, New York Work at The New York Times Seymour Peck was hired by the New York Times in 1952. He held several positions including deskman for the New York Times Sunday Magazine . Peck s Communist affiliation Seymour Peck was forced to testify before the Senate when the Senate Internal Security Subcommittee subpoenaed him in Nov. 1955. The subpoena followed up testimony from journalist Winston Burdett in July of that year. Once on the stand Peck admitted his own involvement with the Communist Party from 1935 1949. When pressed by Senators Peck refused to answer questions about the affiliations of other people. He wouldn t name names. Peck a one time staffer at the defunct Communist leaning New York Compass did not claim the protection of the 5th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution when he refused to answer the questions, he simply refused to answer. This, despite repeated warnings that he risked a contempt citation. In Dec. 1956 Peck was indicted, along with Robert Shelton , William A. Price , and Alden Whitman , for contempt of Congress by a Washington grand jury. Though he was convicted, the conviction was eventually overturned. Death Peck was killed in a car crash on January 1, 1985. After moving to France , where he lived from 1947 to 1951, he attended the Paris Conservatory 1949&ndash 51 and played with Coleman Hawkins 1949 , James Moody saxophonist James Moody 1949&ndash 50 , Roy Eldridge , Don Byas and Kenny Clarke 1950 . In the 1950s Peck played on television in New York and Paris. In 1953 he recorded with Dizzy Gillespie . Peck returned to France again in the 1960s, playing with Michel Legrand , Andr Hodeir and Duke Ellington . He spent some time in England and Germany, working as a staff musician at Sender Freies Berlin and playing with Quincy Jones and the Clarke Boland Big Band 1963&ndash 69 .
