Ogden and Sarah Buck. His father died in 1813 from the effects of a wound received during the War of 1812 . His mother Sarah Buck Ogden died in 1873. John B. Ogden was an only child. At 17 years old, he began the study of law. In 1835 he married probably in Louisville, Kentucky to Jane Sibley 1817 1866 , daughter of Gen. John Sibley of New Jersey. In 1843 he came to Van Buren, Crawford County, Arkansas where he lived the rest of his life. In 1856, he was made a United States Commissioner of the District Court, Western District of Arkansas, which also included all of the district of the Indian Territory now Oklahoma . He held that office until after the Civil War. He was the judge who presided over the evidentiary hearing against Parley P. Pratt , the famous Mormon apostle , on 12 May 1857, and acquit ted him. A short time after his release, Parley was murdered by Hector McLean, James Cornell and Amasa Howell in front of the Winn farm near Alma, Crawford Co, Arkansas. In 1866 John B. Ogden was appointed Assistant United States District Attorney for the Western District of the State of Arkansas and held that position until 1871 or 1872. In 1868 he married Mrs. Susan H Wing n e Barron of Saint Charles, Missouri . John B. Ogden, Lawyer, was alive in 1889 living in Van Buren, Arkansas Van Buren , Crawford Co, Arkansas at the time Goodspeed made his famous biographies of that area. Eric Ogden 23 August 1923&mdash 5 May 1997 was a United Kingdom British politician. Eric Ogden was a miner and studied at the Wigan and District Mining and Technical College. He was originally elected Labour Party UK Labour Member of Parliament MP for Liverpool West Derby UK Parliament constituency Liverpool West Derby at the United Kingdom general election, 1964 1964 general election , but was among the Labour MPs who defected to the new Social Democratic Party UK Social Democratic Party in 1981. At the United Kingdom general election, 1983 1983 general election , he sought re election but came third with 18 of the vote while the Labour candidate Robert Wareing won. It was a time of intense political change and Eric no longer thought that the party he joined was any longer true to the political principles he believed in. He was a member of the Stamps Advisory Committee and Chairman of the Falkland Islands Association he visited the Islands on at least three separate occasions before and after the conflict . He enjoyed photography and gardening and was a keen independent traveller. He married twice and has a son by his first wife and two sons by his second wife, Marjorie Ogden, who died on 24th March 2010. Ogden was born at Durdidwarrah, near Geelong, Victoria and educated at Steiglitz, Victoria Steiglitz State School until he was 14 and then worked at a variety of jobs in different parts of Australia. From 1896 until 1906 he was a prospector and miner on the west coast of Tasmania . He married Emma Etta Colls in 1897.
