    Unreferenced date April 2009 John Napier Burnett born 1899, and died in 1989 was an important pioneer of education in British Columbia . Born in Scotland , Burnett moved to Vancouver in 1911 to escape the chaos that was building in Scotland at the time may be due to the First World War . After completing his education in Vancouver, at the University of British Columbia , he became a member of the Epsilon Delta Chapter , Phi Delta Kappa. Burnett consulted the needs of both the students and the staff, and supported the welfare of educational organizations. He became more and more successful in the educational field, becoming the President of the BC Teachers Federation , and as an Academic administration administrator in the Burnaby and Vancouver districts. In the second world war he served in the Irish Fusiliers, Vancouver Regiment, attaining the rank of Lieutant Colonel. After a stint in the Cariboo and Okanagan regions as an inspector of schools , he became director in various other areas. Burnett s efforts in improving the school infrastructure gave him an opportunity at being the prestigious District Superintendent of Schools in Richmond 1955 . He continued his brilliant work promoting educational standards in the community, and remains today one of the pioneers of education in Greater Vancouver . He was a Republican Party United States Republican . Light was born in Carmel, New York in 1855, to Belden Light and Ann Keenan Light. He moved with his parents to New Canaan, Connecticut at a young age, and his first job was at a tanning tannery , where he earned money to fund his education. He married Ida M. Lockwood on August 3, 1881. Light graduated from Chamberlain Institute and Female College in New York an early coeducation al institution . Light was a schoolteacher while being instructed in the law. He passed the Connecticut bar examination in 1883 and commenced a practice in Light settled in Norwalk, Connecticut South Norwalk, Connecticut , now part of Norwalk. He served as Fairfield County, Connecticut Fairfield County Treasurer from 1899 to 1906. He also served for two terms in the Connecticut House of Representatives , from 1899 and 1901, serving as Speaker politics speaker in 1901. He was one of the organizers of the American Medical Association , also serving as its president. Atlee was born in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania Lancaster County , Pennsylvania , the son of Colonel William Pitt Atlee. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1820, after which he opened an office in Lancaster and his skill as a surgeon soon brought him into prominence. He helped found the Lancaster County Medical Society in 1843 and the Pennsylvania State Medical Society in 1848. He was also one of the promoters of and organizers of the American Medical Association in Philadelphia . In 1868 he became a vice president of the A.M.A., and in 1882 he served as its president.
