Michael JohnKelly May 1815 &ndash March 25, 1890 was a political figure in Colony of Newfoundland Newfoundland . He represented Placentia and St. Mary s in the Newfoundland and Labrador House of Assembly from 1855 to 1859. He was born in St. John s, Newfoundland and Labrador St. John s , the son of Gilbert Kelly and Margaret Knee. Kelly married Bridget Doohan in 1842. He served as acting colonial secretary in 1857. In the same year, he was named representative on the Roman Catholic board of education for Placentia district and acting fisheries superintendent. In 1858, Kelly was named inspector for Roman Catholic schools. He resigned his seat in the assembly but was sworn in again the following year. Kelly retired as a school inspector in 1879. He died in Brigus, Newfoundland and Labrador Brigus at the age of 74. JohnKellyKelly of Killanne died c. 22 June 1798 was a Society of United Irishmen United Irish leader who fought in the Irish Rebellion of 1798 . While Kelly was obviously well known to rebel and loyalist alike during the short duration of the Wexford rising, almost nothing is known of him outside this time. He was one of the leaders of the rebel victory at the Battle of Three Rocks which led to the capture of Wexford town but was later seriously wounded while leading a rebel column at the Battle of New Ross 1798 Battle of New Ross . Orphan date February 2009 JohnKelly 1801 1876 was a Scottish Congregational minister. Life Kelly was born in Edinburgh on 1 December 1801, received his education at Heriot s Hospital, and at an early age was converted by the preaching of Dr. Robert Gordon of Edinburgh. He was for some time engaged in tuition in the West Riding of Yorkshire, and for four years later studied at the academical institution at Idle, West Yorkshire , late known as Airedale College . In January 1827 he was sent to Liverpool to preach at Bethesda Chapel, and was ordained to the charge in September 1829. His career as a minister was very successful, and the new Crescent Chapel built for his growing congregation at Everton, Liverpool, was opened on 23 Nov. 1837. Kelly was for many years a director of the London Missionary Society , and took a warm interest in the Lancashire Independent College . He was chairman of the meeting of the Congregational Union of England and Wales in London in May 1851, and of the meeting held at Northampton in the following October. He retired from the Crescent Chapel on 28 September 1873, and died at 18 Richmond Terrace, Liverpool, on 12 June 1876. He was buried in the necropolis on 15 June. Works Kelly was author of many addresses and single sermons, and of The Voluntary Support of the Christian Ministry the Law of the New Testament, 1838.
