The Fondation JeanDubuffet is a foundation established by artist JeanDubuffet 1901 1985 in 1973. Its registered office is on the Rue de Moulin Neuf, Sente des Vaux Ruelle aux Chevaux, P rigny sur Yerres , Val de Marne , with the secretariat located in the VIe arrondissement at 137 Rue de S vres, Paris , France . Both are open to the public an admission fee is charged. The foundation acquires and conserves Dubuffet s original work, as well as items from his personal collection, including plans, designs and models, gouaches, drawings and prints, notes and manuscripts, documents, etc. It currently contains over 1000 works and over 14,000 photographs of his art. Its main collection is housed in P rigny sur Yerres, and open to the public. In addition, the foundation s Paris townhouse, acquired by the artist in 1962, contains an exhibition as well as a center of study. It is an English language English language retelling of Victor Hugo s 1862 novel Les Mis rables . Around the turn of the 20th century, Cleaver, then a young Minister of religion minister from Winnipeg , read through Les Mis rables and would often retell it in his own words. His adaptation proved so popular that he was persuaded to write it down and publish it. The resulting novel, titled Jean Val Jean , is much shorter about 100 pages and uses much simpler language than Hugo s version. It remains popular, especially among young readers who do not have the patience or reading skills required to tackle Hugo s five volume original.
