Biography Tim Steed was born December 30, 1957 in Knoxville, Tennessee . He graduated Bearden High School in 1975 and soon after joined the U.S. Army, where he was a member of the 101st Airborne Division United States 101st Airborne Division in a combat support company. He was discharged under honorable conditions after a year and returned home to Knoxville. It was at this time in his life, he bounced around various colleges and odd jobs until he landed at Roane State Community College in Knoxville. There he discovered acting and started writing and performing stand up comedy . He later transferred to the University of Tennessee , took as many acting and speech classes as he could and entered the university comedy contest and was deemed the runner up for funniest person on campus. During his time at U.T., Steed met a group of local improvisational actors called On the Edge and helped take them from local theater to public access television.
