The Ipatiev Monastery in Russian language Russian sometimes translated into English as Hypatian Monastery is a male monastery , situated on the bank of the Kostroma River just opposite the city of Kostroma . It was founded around 1330 by a Tatar convert, Murza Chet Prince Chet , whose male line descendants include Solomonia Saburova and Boris Godunov . In 1435, Vasily II concluded a peace with his cousin Vasily Kosoy there. At that time, the cloister was a notable centre of learning. It was here that Nikolay Karamzin discovered a set of three 14th century chronicle s, including the Primary Chronicle , now known as the Hypatian Codex . During the Time of Troubles in Russia , the Ipatiev Monastery was occupied by the supporters of False Dmitriy II in the spring of 1609. In September of that same year, the monastery was captured by the Muscovy Muscovite army after a long siege . On March 14, 1613, the Zemsky Sobor announced that Michael I of Russia Mikhail Romanov , who had been in this monastery at that time, would be the Russian tsar . 1. Ipatiev House

Image Ipatjew Haus1.jpg 400px thumb The Ipatiev House on a postcard published in the 1920s, but depicting the time when the royal family was held there, as the palisade surrounding the building was erected then. Ipatiev House Russian was a merchant s house in Yekaterinburg where the former Emperor Nicholas II of Russia , his family and members of his household were executed following the Bolshevik Revolution . Coincidentally, its name is identical with that of the Ipatiev Monastery in Kostroma , from where the Romanovs came to the throne. History In the 1880s, Ivan Redikortsev, an official involved in the mining industry, commissioned a two story house to be built on the slope of a prominent hill. The length of the facade was 31 metres. In 1898, the mansion passed to Sharaviev, a gold dealer of tainted reputation. Ten years later, the house was acquired by Nikolai Nikolayevich Ipatiev, a military engineer, who turned the ground floor into his office. It seems to have been on the basis of information supplied by Pyotr Voikov that Ipatiev was summoned to the office of the Ural Soviet at the end of April 1918 and ordered to vacate what was soon to be called The House of Special Purpose . Imperial family The Romanov family moved in on 30 April and spent 78 days at the house. The Emperor, Alexandra Fyodorovna of Hesse his wife , OTMA their four daughters , Tsarevich Alexei of Russia their son , their Court Physician Doctor Eugene Botkin Yevgeny Botkin , Lady in Waiting Anna Demidova , Cook Ivan Kharitonov , and Valet Alexei Trupp , were shot there by a squad of Bolshevik ... s All Saints Resplendent in the Russian Land Church on the Blood , built on the spot where the Ipatiev ... literatura sokolov n a murder imperial family37.htm Ipatiev House Investigation of murder of the Romanov ... cs Ipa jev v d m de Ipatjew Haus es Casa Ip tiev fr Villa Ipatiev gl Casa Ipatiev it Casa Ipat ev ka nl Ipatiev huis pt Casa Ipatiev ru fi Ipatjevin talo ...   more details
