  1. The Investigator

The Investigator 1954 was a radio play written by Reuben Ship and first broadcast by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation CBC on May 30 of that year. It lampooned the US House Committee on Un American Activities HUAC and Senator Joseph McCarthy . Plot The story concerns a United States Senator, who is never explicitly identified as Joseph McCarthy , but who shares McCarthy s nasally whine and who uses such McCarthy esque sayings as Your uncooperative attitude can only cast the gravest doubts on your own loyalty. This senator dies in an airplane crash and finds himself at the gates of heaven, where a tribunal must decide whether he is worthy of heaven or hell. There, he meets Cotton Mather of the Salem Witch Trials , Tomas de Torquemada of the Spanish Inquisition , and other famous inquisitors from history, who, despite their reputations as shrewd and conniving characters, call themselves mere untutored novices compared to the Senator. As it turns out, they ve been looking for someone to commandeer the tribunal and bring the latest inquisitorial techniques to it, and they see that the Senator is the perfect man for the job. The Senator easily takes control of the committee, and soon realizes that a great many individuals in heaven could potentially be subversives from hell down there . He soon calls numerous historical figures to the stand, including Thomas Jefferson , Socrates , John Milton , and Martin Luther . When they testify, they all give oddly relevant quotations of theirs, such as when Voltaire states that liberty of thought is the life of the soul. 1. New investigator

Image Age NIH award graph.gif right thumb 320px First major independent research support from NIH occurs at an ever later age Certain scientific funding agencies make a distinction between research investigators and new investigators . New investigators would be evaluated in a different way when competing for funding with more seasoned researchers, or they would be able to access funding resources specific to them. The rationale behind is to avoid the current trend that for certain grant money grants the average age of the researchers receiving it for the first time keeps increasing over the years See graph . ref http grants.nih.gov grants new investigators ref Definition The formal definition of a new investigator varies with the funding agency. For example, for the NIH , a new investigator is one that does not have a story of previous funding. Other organizations, such as the Alzheimer s Association , consider a new investigator someone that is less than 10 years past their PhD degree. The Canadian Institutes of Health Research require a maximum of 60 months holding a full time research appointment, and the Leukemia Research Foundation consider them to be within seven years of their first independent position. The Medical Research Council UK simply considers postdoctoral researchers in their first academic post. The equivalent term Early Researcher or Early Career Researcher is also used in different ways, where for example, for the Australian Research Council it means someone that received a PhD or equivalent research doctorate within five years, or for the Ontario Ministry of Research and Innovation must be an independent researcher within the first five years of the start of their independent academic research career. 1. Diversion Investigator

Orphan date August 2008 Unreferenced date August 2008 Diversion Investigator DI is the title of a specialist position within the Drug Enforcement Administration DEA of the United States Department of Justice . Most DIs are part of DEA s Diversion Control Program and are assigned to various DEA field offices throughout the U.S. and in several foreign countries. DIs are responsible for addressing the problem of Drug diversion diversion of controlled pharmaceutical s and regulated chemical s from the legitimate channels in which they are manufactured, distributed, and dispensed. The mission of a DI is to aid the U.S. pharmaceutical and chemical industries in complying with the Federal Controlled Substances Act CSA and other pertinent laws, as well as international treaties and conventions. DIs conduct investigations to uncover and investigate suspected sources of diversion and take appropriate criminal , civil and or administrative actions. The DI position was originally known as a Compliance Investigator and was created to address the regulatory responsibilities of the Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs BNDD following the enactment of the CSA in 1970. Around 1983 84, the position had been given its current name. One key difference between the DI position and that of a DEA Special agent Special Agent is that DEA has never authorized DIs or their Compliance Investigator predecessors to carry firearms or to perform traditional Law enforcement agency law enforcement activities such as making arrests or controlling informants. DEA Special Agents, on the other hand, are fully commissioned Federal law enforcement officers. Unreferenced date March 2007 Image Pb13rear.jpg 200px right thumb Bardagul Kapote and Brossy, on the rear cover of Pugad Baboy 13 . Private Investigator is an adventure story arc of the Philippine comic strip series Pugad Baboy , created by Pol Medina Jr. and originally published in the Philippine Daily Inquirer. This particular story arc lasts 77 strips long and ran July to October, 2000, in the light of the then recent bombings in some shopping malls. In 2001, the story arc was reprinted in PB the 13th , the thirteenth book compilation of the comic strip series. The story arc s title comes from the fact that every time Dagul s alter ego Bardagul Kapote s name is mentioned by the unseen narrator, he always follows it with the phrase Private Investigator, which is what Bardagul Kapote is. Kapote is Filipino for raincoat and Bardagul s trench coat can serve the same purpose as a raincoat in the Philippine setting. Synopsis Plot date August 2008 Dagul, Debbie, and their housekeeper Brosia are watching a very gory movie in a shopping mall cinema when suddenly, an explosion is heard, sending the other moviegoers into panic. In the aftermath of the explosion, Brosia helps the janitor collect the debris from the explosion, which originated from the women s restroom, into a garbage bag. Brosia and her masters take home the garbage bag, even before police could obtain any evidence from it. At home, Dagul tells Debbie that the garbage bag they took home might contain evidence related to the bombing. But examining it should be done by a very skilled detective. Dagul and Brosia then disappear and reappear as Bardagul Kapote, a trench coat clad private investigator, and Brossy, his blonde secretary, both dressed in a 50s get up.
