InternationalConvention Center Jeju ICC Jeju opened in 2003 on Jeju Island , South Korea , in the Jungmun Resort near the city of Seogwipo. It began under private public consortium ownership and is becoming fully publicly owned. It consists of a larger oval shaped glass structure and a smaller round glass annex, and surrounding facilities. The largest hall accommodates 4,300 people, with various smaller halls and meeting rooms. The building consists of a large elliptical fully glass wall structure four floors above ground and two below connected to a smaller circular glass building housing restaurant and coffee shop, and is set on a cliff over the Pacific Ocean. ICC Jeju bills itself as the Most Beautiful Convention Center in the World. The building houses the Jeju Convention Bureau. The International Plant Protection Convention IPPC is an international treaty organization that aims to secure coordinated, effective action to prevent and to control the introduction and spread of Pest organism pest s of plants and plant products. Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and ruler of Dubai. The Dubai World Trade Center is considered to be the focal point of business within the Middle East. Since its inauguration in 1979, the centre has played a role in stimulating regional and international trade through the UAE . The centre includes Symphony Hall, Birmingham Symphony Hall and it faces Centenary Square, Birmingham Centenary Square . The building has another entrance leading to the canal s of Birmingham. The Birmingham Convention Quarter Convention Quarter area, which includes Brindleyplace , is located directly opposite the building on the other side of the canal. It is part of the National Exhibition Centre NEC group. The building was designed by Percy Thomas Partnership and Renton Howard Wood Levin . The foundation stone was laid by Jacques Delors as a start of another 4 years and 5 months of construction. In all, over 1,500 workers helped construct the building. Over 60,000 cubic metres of concrete were used. The site was opened on June 12, 1991 by Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom Queen Elizabeth II .
