Visual inspection is a common method of quality control , data acquisition , and data analysis . Visual Inspection, used in maintenance of facilities, mean inspection of equipment and structures using either or all of human senses such as vision, hearing, touch and smell. Visual Inspection typically means inspection using raw human senses and or any non specialized inspection equipment. Inspections requiring Ultrasonic, X Ray equipment, Infra red, etc are not typically considered as Visual Inspection as these Inspection methodologies require specialized equipment and training. Quality control A study of the visual inspection of small integrated circuits found that the modal duration of eye fixations of trained inspectors was about 200 msec. The most accurate inspectors made the fewest eye fixations and were the fastest. When the same chip was judged more than once by an individual inspector the consistency of judgment was very high whereas the consistency between inspectors was somewhat less. Variation by a factor of six in inspection speed led to variation of less than a factor of two in inspection accuracy. If the opposition either refuses to produce some documents or appears to hold back, the party wanting to see the documents can bring a motion to produce requesting a court order to produce and a number of penalty International sanctions sanctions to be paid for failure to honour the demand. The document being inspected must be tied back to a parent. A party may also use a subpoena duces tecum to obtain specific documents if they are thought to exist. Procedures Inspection of document s is to be carried out under supervision. All of these procedures are part of the discovering process, which is intended to give both sides extensive information before trial. The request may, without leave of court, be served on the plaintiff after commencement of the action and on any other party with or after service of the summons and complaint on that party. Such exchanging of documents can lead to a settlement, as well as minimising surprises at trial, and keep one side from hiding material away and, therefore, preventing the other from being able to introduce relevant material at the trial. law stub Category Discovery law ...   more details

  1. Thermographic inspection

refimprove date June 2008 Thermographic inspection refers to the nondestructive testing of parts, materials or systems through the imaging of the thermal patterns at the object s surface. Strictly speaking, the term thermography alone, refers to all thermographic inspection techniques regardless of the physical phenomena used to monitor the thermal changes. For instance, the application of a temperature sensitive coating to a surface in order to measure its temperature is a thermographic inspection contact technique based on heat conduction where there is no infrared sensor involved. Infrared thermography on the other hand, is a nondestructive, nonintrusive, noncontact mapping of thermal patterns or thermograms , on the surface of objects ref Maldague X. P. V., Jones T. S., Kaplan H., Marinetti S. and Prystay M. Chapter 2 Fundamentals of Infrared and Thermal Testing Part 1. Principles of Infrared and Thermal Testing, in Nondestructive Handbook, Infrared and Thermal Testing, Volume 3, X. Maldague technical ed., P. O. Moore ed., 3rd edition, Columbus, Ohio, ASNT Press, 2001, 718 p. ref through the use of some kind of infrared detector. In addition, there are two approaches in thermographic inspection 1 passive , in which the features of interest are naturally at a higher or lower temperature than the background, for example the surveillance of people on a scene and 2 active, in which an energy source is required to produce a thermal contrast between the feature of interest and the background, for example an aircraft part with internal flaws. When compared with other classical nondestructive testing techniques such as ultrasonic testing or radiographic testing , thermographic inspection is safe, nonintrusive and noncontact, allowing the detection of relatively shallow subsurface defects a few millimeters in depth under large surfaces typically 30x30 cm2 at once, although inspection of larger surfaces is possible and in a fast manner from a fraction of a second to a few ...   more details

  1. Under vehicle inspection

Orphan date May 2008 Refimprove date June 2008 An under vehicle inspection system generally consists of still or video camera s mounted within a ramp and used at facility access points, particularly at secure facilities. An under vehicle inspection system is used to detect threats such as bombs that are hidden underneath vehicles. Cameras capture images of the undercarriage of the vehicle for manual or automated visual inspection by security personnel or systems. Under vehicle inspection systems can be permanent embedded in the road , fixed attached to the road , or mobile portable . Under vehicle inspection systems are known by the acronyms UVI under vehicle inspection , UVIS under vehicle inspection systems , AUVIS automated under vehicle inspection systems and MUVIS mobile under vehicle inspection systems . Another common name for Under Vehicle Inspection System is Under Vehicle Surveillance System UVSS .
