    Notability 1 Bio date April 2010 Henry Hyde c. 1563 September 29, 1634 was the father of Edward Hyde, 1st Earl of Clarendon and great grandfather of two British monarchs, Mary II of England Queen Mary II and Anne of Great Britain Queen Anne . Life Hyde was born circa 1563, the son of Lawrence Hyde and Anne Sybill. He married Mary Langford, daughter of Edward Langford and Mary St. Barbe, on April 3, 1597. He was an older brother of among others Eleanor of England 1269 1298 Eleanor of England , Joan of Acre , Alphonso, Earl of Chester , Margaret of England 1275 1333 Margaret Plantagenet , Elizabeth of Rhuddlan and Edward II of England . He was also an older, paternal half brother of Thomas of Brotherton, 1st Earl of Norfolk and Edmund of Woodstock, 1st Earl of Kent . At the time of his birth, his paternal grandfather Henry III of England was still reigning. His father Prince Edward was the Heir apparent since his own birth in 1239. Second in line for the throne was his eldest son John. John was a year senior to Henry who thus became the third in line heir for the throne at birth. On 3 August 1271, John died in the custody of their paternal granduncle Richard, 1st Earl of Cornwall . His death left Henry the eldest surviving child of Prince Edward and second in line heir to the throne of England. Henry III died on 16 November 1272. Edward became the new King of England and Henry his heir apparent . He would remain heir for the first two years of the new reign. He died of natural causes and was replaced as heir by his younger brother Alphonso.
