Multiple issues unreferenced June 2008 notability June 2008 GeorgiaStateUniversity Foundation, Inc. is the fundraising arm of GeorgiaStateUniversity and is the primary destination for gifts to the university. Under the supervision of independent, volunteer board trustees, the foundation manages assets of more than 446 million, including 100 million in endowment funds. The mission of the foundation is to support the university by securing private funding and by protecting and growing the Foundation s assets. As the state of Georgia provides 30 of the university s operating budget and 10 of its capital outlays annually, the foundation and its donors are important sources of operating, endowment and capital funds. Private gifts to the foundation for example, played significant roles in the renovation of the Rialto complex, in the construction of the Helen Aderhold Learning Center and the Parker H. Petit Science Center. Currently, more than 200 endowed scholarships and 60 endowed professorships and chairs are held by the foundation. The foundation was chartered as a Georgia U.S. stateGeorgia nonprofit corporation in 1958 and is recognized by the University System of GeorgiaGeorgia Board of Regents Board of Regents as a cooperative organization supporting GeorgiaState. The foundation board of trustees, a significant reservoir of leadership and talent, is composed of business and philanthropic leaders, both alumni and friends, from Georgia and across the nation. The foundation is a tax exempt charity under Section 501 c 3 of the Internal Revenue Code . Gifts to the foundation are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.
