The Norwegian folkmusic series is a scientific collection of traditional Norwegian dance music, divided into two separate series, a hardanger fiddle series, and a regular fiddle series. The Hardanger fiddle series is already published Hardingfeleverket , and the fiddle series is in production. Together, the two series are meant to represent most, but not all, of Norwegian fiddle music as collected and written down. The Hardanger fiddle series The Hardanger fiddle books were published between 1958 and 1981 . The editors were all traditional fiddlers who were well acquainted with the music in question. The three of them, Arne Bj rndal , Truls rpen and Eivind Groven , had all collected fiddle tunes in their areas, and were now asked to put their collections into print. As work progressed, rpen and Bj rndal both died, and Groven went on alone. Most of the practical edition was carried out by him. The series consists of seven volumes, with some 2000 tunes all in all, from all the hardanger fiddle areas. The tunes are divided into families, based on musical relation. The hardanger fiddle series has not been re published, but is of great value for research on Norwegian dance music. The festival continues to draw many people from around the world as both spectators and performers. The current producer of the festival is Terry Wickham. The festival showcases performers in many genres. Most years, folk, celtic, bluegrass, blues, gospel, roots, and worldbeat acts perform. Past main stage performers include k.d. lang , Joni Mitchell , Stan Rogers , Great Big Sea , Oysterband , Loreena McKennitt , Norah Jones , Steve Earle , The Blind Boys Of Alabama , David Gray musician David Gray , Neko Case , Van Morrison , David Byrne musician David Byrne and Michael Franti . In addition to mainstage and sidestage concerts by individual artists, the festival has artists collaborate on shared stages. During the daytime hours of the festival, there are six active stages hosting workshops and concerts. One stage is devoted to children s entertainment. Richard Meyer born 1952 is an United States American Folkmusicfolk singer songwriter , writer , Painting painter , and set design er. Meyer was active in the Greenwich Village folkmusic scene of the 1980s and 1990s 90s and did much to promote other artists. As one of the leaders of a musicians cooperative in the Village he handled booking at the SpeakEasy club SpeakEasy and edited Fast Folk Musical Magazine 1986 1997 . He has since written reviews for various media such as Allmusic . He has also worked extensively as a lighting scenery designer in theater . As of summer 2008, Richard is suffering from advancing Parkinson s disease and living at a nursing home in the New York area.
