The Fender Wildwood guitar was a flat top acoustic guitar introduced by the Fender Musical Instrument Corporation Fender company in 1966 . The Wildwood was a variation on the Fender Kingman guitar, featuring a variety of dyed wood colors. Wildwood guitars were available in gold, brown, purple, dark blue, purple blue, green or blue green. Fender offered other acoustic and electric models with the same veneer option, adding Wildwood to the model name often noted on the pick guard as with the Wildwood Coronado Bass guitar. Fender Wildwood II s , like other Fender acoustic guitars of the time, were unique in that the neck of the acoustic guitar was the same as those used on Fender electric guitars and bolted to a block inside the acoustic guitar body. A resonator bar extended inside the body from the neck block to the bottom of the guitar, which reportedly benefited the tone of the guitar. 1. Fender Stringmaster

The Fender Musical Instruments Corporation Fender Stringmaster is a series of table steel guitar s produced by Fender from 1953 to 1980. Models were available with two, three and four necks, each neck with eight strings. The four neck version, known as the quad or Q 8, was discontinued in 1968. Electrics Each neck had two single pole pickups, which could be used either individually or mixed by means of a three way pickup selector awitch for each neck. A single tone and a single volume control served the entire instrument. Scale lengths The original 1953 models had a long scale length , at 26 . From 1954 the scale length was reduced, and two shorter lengths were available, 24.5 and 22.5 , both with 31 frets. Fender Deluxe A single neck version was also available, called the Fender Deluxe , in both six and eight string versions. The six string Deluxe is possibly more properly called a lap steel guitar , despite its three detachable legs All models of Stringmaster and Deluxe were simply called steel guitar s in Fender publications. The name Fender Deluxe was also used for an unrelated series of Fender instrument amplifier combo amplifiers produced in the 1950s, see Fender Deluxe Reverb . 1. Fender King

The Fender King guitar was a flat top acoustic guitar introduced by the Fender Musical Instruments Corporation Fender company in 1963. The guitar was re introduced in 1966 as the Fender Kingman, and discontinued in 1971. Fender King guitars were sequentially numbered and the number placed on the back of the guitar on a small metal plate. guitar stub Category Fender acoustic guitars Category Acoustic guitars As the name suggests the King was the top of Fender s nascent acoustic guitar line introduced in late 1963 as the folk boom took hold of the market. In its acoustic line the standard Fender bolt on neck design was carried over from the company s popular array of electric guitars and basses. This unique configuration married a high quality neck more akin to a Fender electric guitar than a typical acoustic instrument attached to a standard sized acoustic dreadnaught body. Due to this unusual configuration a tone bar derisively termed a broomstick of aluminum had to be added through the body for structural rigidity. In 1965 66 the name King was changed to Kingman and finally discontinued with the entire critically derided and poorly selling acoustic line in 1971. p The King was available in a variety of high quality woods and later included in the bizarre Wildwood line of multi colored died wood finishes offered by Fender at the time. The King Kingman followed the standard Fender changes in neck inlays and hardware design changes which also help to date the instruments as serial numbers varied widely and offer little indication as to actual date of manufacture. p As of 2005 Fender acoustic guitars from this period began to see a mild resurgence in popularity thanks in large part to wider availability on Internet auction websites, the sharp rise in prices for all American made guitars from the 1960 s, and ironically because the guitars are finally being appreciated for their durability, playability, and sound. ...   more details
