  1. International Commission on Holocaust Era Insurance Claims

The International Commission on Holocaust Era Insurance Claims ICHEIC was established by the National Association of Insurance Commissioners in August 1998 to identify, settle, and pay individual Holocaust era insurance claims at no cost to claimants. ICHEIC was established in 1998 following negotiations between representatives of international Jewish and survivor organizations, the State of Israel, European insurance companies and U.S. insurance regulators. The result of the negotiations, a Memorandum of Understanding MOU , was signed on August 25, 1998, by several European insurance companies. This organization headed off the need for legislation in several U.S. states that would provide compensation for such victims. However, New York, California and Florida each passed legislation entitling survivors to compensation prior to its organization. In New York, senator Guy Velella , sponsored such legislation and hearings with Risk International insurance archeology specialists were held to prove victims were denied such claims. The International Commission on Holocaust Era Insurance Claims ceased accepting claim forms applications from Holocaust survivors on March 31, 2004. 1. Jobless claims

Initial Jobless Claims is a report issued by the U.S. Department of Labor on a weekly basis. The employment situation is extremely important for a macroeconomic analysis, so the financial markets track employment indicators, although this is a low impact indicator compared with the monthly BLS s Employment Report . This report tracks how many new people have filed for unemployment benefits in the previous week. It is a good gauge of the U.S. job market. For instance, when more people file for unemployment benefits, fewer people have jobs, and vice versa. Investors can use this report to gather pertinent information about the economy, but it s a very volatile data, so the four week average of jobless claims is monitored. The report is released at 13 30 GMT on Thursdays 08 30 EST and can be a market moving event. Initial jobless claims measure emerging unemployment, and it s released after one week, but continued claims data measure the number of persons claiming unemployment benefits, and it s released one week later than the initial claims, that s the reason why initial have a higher impact in the financial markets. Crime, 2 Ed. ref Its earliest progenitor was the False Claims Act , ref Hubbard v. 1. False premise

Unreferenced date December 2009 A false premise is an incorrect proposition that forms the basis of a logical syllogism . Since the premise proposition, or assumption is not correct, the conclusion drawn may be in error. However, the validity logical validity of an argument is a function of its internal consistency, not the truth value of its premises. For example, consider this syllogism, which involves an obvious false premise If the streets are wet, it has rained recently. premise The streets are wet. premise Therefore it has rained recently. conclusion This argument is logically valid, but quite demonstrably wrong, because its first premise is false one could hose down the streets, the local river could have flooded, etc. A simple deductive system logical analysis will not reveal the error in this argument, since that analysis must accept the truth of the argument s premises. For this reason, an argument based on false premises can be much more difficult to falsifiability refute , or even discuss, than one featuring a normal logical error, as the truth of its premises must be established to the satisfaction of all parties. Another feature of an argument based on false premises that can bedevil critics, is that its conclusion can in fact be true. Consider the above example again. It may well be that it has recently rained, and that the streets are wet. This of course does nothing to prove the first premise, but can make its claims more difficult to refute. This underlies the basic epistemology epistemological problem of establishing causal relationships . A false premise can also be a premise that is poorly or incompletely defined so as to make the conclusion questionable.
