lunar crater data latitude 4.0 N or S N longitude 1.1 E or W E diameter 13.6 km depth 2.6 km colong 359 eponym Ernst Chladni Chladni is a small moon lunar impact crater that lies near the northwest edge of Sinus Medii , in the central part of the Moon . The rim of the crater is roughly circular, and there is a small central floor at the mid point of the sloping inner walls. This feature has a higher albedo than the surrounding terrain . It is connected by a low ridge to the rim of the crater Murchison crater Murchison , which lies to the northwest. Due east of Chladni is the larger Triesnecker crater Triesnecker . Chladni s law , named after ErnstChladni , relates the frequency of modes of vibration for flat circular surfaces with fixed center as a function of the numbers m of diametric linear nodes and n of radial circular nodes. It is stated as the equation math f C m 2n p math where C and p are coefficients which depend on the properties of the plate. For flat circular plates, p is roughly 2, but Chladni s law can also be used to describe the vibrations of cymbal s, handbells , and church bells in which case p can vary from 1.4 to 2.4. In fact, p can even vary for a single object, depending on which family of modes is being examined. Image ErnstTroeltsch.jpg thumb right 200px Ernst Troeltsch. Ernst Troeltsch 17 February 1865 1 February 1923 was a Germany German Protestant theology theologian and writer on philosophy of religion and philosophy of history , and an influential figure in German thought before 1914. His work was a synthesis of a number of strands, drawing on Albrecht Ritschl , Max Weber s conception of sociology , and the Neo Kantian s of the Baden school . His The Social Teachings of the Christian Church two volume edition in translation by Harper Row, 1960 is a seminal work in this area. While religious thinking in the days of the Weimar Republic moved away from his direction, Troeltsch s work in the sociology of religion remains important. Further reading Nix, Jr., Echol.
