The United States Equestrian Team became the United States Equestrian Team Foundation in 2003 after the United States Equestrian Team and the United States Equestrian Federation USEF , which had been founded in 1917 as the American Horse Shows Association AHSA , signed an agreement that made the foundation the unified governing body that included oversight of the Olympic Games Olympic equestrian disciplines in the United States.
