It is caused because generally there is air space between the fork and the pipe end, causing the air column to vibrate a short distance beyond the edge of the tube. A theoretical basis for computation of the end correction is the radiation acoustic impedance of a circular piston . This impedance represents the ratio of Sound pressure acoustic pressure at the piston, divided by the Volumetric flow rate flow rate induced by it. The Airspeed air speed is typically assumed to be uniform across the tube end. This is a good approximation, but not exactly true in reality, since air viscosity reduces the flow rate in the boundary layer very close to the tube surface. The vertex and box corrections, which depend on the identity of the initial and final state fermions, are called nonoblique correction s. Any new particles charged under the electroweak gauge group s can contribute to oblique corrections. Therefore, the oblique corrections can be used to constrain possible new physics beyond the Standard Model . To affect the nonoblique corrections, on the other hand, the new particles must couple directly to the external fermions.
