Unreferenced stub auto yes date December 2009 File Electrical Alternans.JPG thumb 350px Electrical alternans Electrical alternans is an electrocardiogram electrocardiographic phenomenon of alternation of QRS complex amplitude or Coordinate axis axis between beats. Also a wandering baseline may be observed. It is seen in cardiac tamponade and is thought to be related to changes in the ventricle heart ventricular electrical axis due to fluid in the pericardium . The majority of factors that cause A V blocks can result in blockage of the peripheral ventricular Purkinje system. This often results in a block of every other heart beat. The electrical alternans can be attributed to tachycardia as in this condition it is impossible for all the Purkinje fibres to recover from their previous refractory period to conduct the new impulse and as such a few heart beats are lost resulting in electrical alternans pattern which can be illustrated by an ECG. Also many other conditions such as ischemia, myocarditis, and digitalis toxicity can cause incomplete intraventricular block and thus result in electrical alternans. In telecommunications , electrical length is the length of a transmission medium or antenna electronics antenna element expressed as the number of wavelength s of the Signalling telecommunication signal propagating in the medium. Electromagnetic waves propagate more slowly in a medium than in free space, so a wave in a medium will have a larger number of waves than a wave of the same frequency propagating over the same distance in free space. Alternatively put, the distance covered in free space by the same number of waves as are in the transmission medium will be greater, hence the transmission medium is said to have an electrical length greater than its physical length. The electrical length is most commonly expressed in units of the wavelength, , which is related to the velocity of wave propagation propagation , v and frequency, f by math lambda frac v f math A length may be stated as 2 or 3 or 0.5 etc. It is also sometimes expressed in radian s or degree angle degrees . A length of can be converted to radians by math theta 2 pi nu , math In both coaxial cable s and optical fibers, the velocity of wave propagation is approximately two thirds that of free space . Consequently, the wavelength will be approximately two thirds that in free space, and the electrical length approximately 1.5 times the physical length. Image ElectricalTree1.jpg thumb A 3D Electrical Tree or Lichtenberg figure , imbedded within a 1.5 cube of Polymethyl Methacrylate Poly methyl methacrylate PMMA Within the field of electrical engineering , treeing is an electrical pre breakdown phenomenon. It is a damaging process due to partial discharge s and progresses through the stressed dielectric Insulator electrical insulation , whose path resembles the form of a tree. Occurrence and causes Electrical treeing first occurs and propagates when a dry dielectric material is subjected to high and divergent electrical field stress over a long period of time. Electrical treeing is observed to originate at points where impurities, gas voids, mechanical defects, or conducting projections cause excessive electrical field stress within small regions of the dielectric. Mergeto Computer aided design date March 2010 Electrical CAD refers to Computer software software packages that allow an electrical engineer to create and manage electrical schematic s. Advanced packages will not only manage electrical schematics, but also integrate functionalities such as cabinet and panel lay outs and terminal management. The benefit of using E CAD solutions is to create harnesses using among logic information provided from the user geometrical information from the CAD system. Electrical components within any kind of construction need to be connected with harnesses. This can be components like PCBs printed circuite boards , controls, drives, gauges or any other kind which has to be connected either to just provide electrical energy or to exchange information. These components are located anywhere in the construction and the harness has to connect them with their correspondents. First, of course, the harness needs to reach all electrical components using a defined path. The path should be defined early in the conception phase to avoid intersections. Second, the harness underlies environmental conditions, like heat, humiditiy or chemical aggressive substances in certain zones. Finally, each wire terminates in a connector who fits to the environmental conditions, too. Connectors are also necessary to break a harness into two parts for physical reason. Example The interior of a car door is connected to the other harness after mounting the pre equipped door. In the E CAD solution, the electrical logic will be defined parallel to the space reservation made in a 3D CAD system if any . In a following step the defined wires are auto routed to join the logic with the predefinition. This step is mostly to take the length information coming from M CAD into account. Then, protections have to be added or wires have to be defined according the environmental conditions ... are even becoming Product Lifecycle Management packages as they allow to manage the entire electrical ... more details

Electrical polarity positive and negative is present in every electrical circuit . Electron s flow from the negative pole to the positive pole. In a direct current DC circuit, one pole is always negative, the other pole is always positive and the electrons flow in one direction only. In an alternating current AC circuit the two poles alternate between negative and positive and the direction of the electron flow continually reverses. Positive and negative In DC circuits e.g. for a car battery positive is usually marked red and negative is usually marked black. In AC circuits e.g. domestic Mains electricity mains supply polarity markings are not relevant because the two poles are alternately positive and negative but wires are colour coded for live and neutral. Ground earth Modern automobile cars have a negative earth electrical system . This means that the negative pole of the battery is connected grounded to the vehicle s bodywork and the positive pole is live . Older cars may have a positive earth electrical system in which the positive pole is grounded and the negative is live .
