The International EconomicHistory Association IEHA serves as an umbrella organization, which has been established in 1960 and unites economic historians from all over the world. Beside national economichistory associations, it welcomes as member organizations also societies, which specialize in a specific discipline within economichistory. The global character of the IEHA is reflected in its list of members in 2006, it includes organizations from almost 40 countries in Africa, America, Asia, Europe and Oceania. The main objectives of the IEHA are to bundle and coordinate worldwide research in economichistory, to provide a forum to discuss new findings and methods and to thereby promote communication among scholars in economichistory and related fields. As one of the most important medium to achieve these goals, the IEHA holds a World Economic Congress every three or four years. The IEHA is coordinated by three bodies.
