It was powered by a Hybrid electric vehicle hybrid electric and gas turbine engine. Much of the lines were reused in the Volvo S80 . The Volvo ECC was built on the Volvo 850 platform. In contrast to most production hybrids, which use a gasoline piston engine to provide additional acceleration and to recharge the battery storage, the Volvo ECC used a gas turbine engine to drive the generator for recharging. This type of engine has a higher thermodynamic efficiency than the conventional internal combustion engine with pistons. Also in Volvo s design, the fuel is evaporated and mixed with air before ignition. This provides a very low NOx emission. The driver can also switch between gas turbine electric and hybrid by switches on the dashboard. The maximum power available was 95 brake horsepower, with 75 available for continuous use. With the vehicle weighing approximately 300 pounds more than a conventional Volvo 850, acceleration from zero to sixty miles per hour was in the twenty second range. Patent related uncertainty around elliptic curve cryptography ECC , or ECC patents , is one of the main factors limiting its wide acceptance. For example, the OpenSSL team accepted an ECC patch only in 2005 in OpenSSL version 0.9.8 , despite the fact that it was submitted in 2002. According to RSA Laboratories , in all of these cases, it is the implementation technique that is patented, not the prime or representation, and there are alternative, compatible implementation techniques that are not covered by the patents. Daniel Bernstein says he is not aware of patents that cover the Curve25519 elliptic curve Diffie Hellman algorithm or its implementation. ref D.J. The European Community Championship was a professional tennis tournament held from 1982 until 1995 in Antwerp , Belgium . The tournament was held as a special invitational exhibition event run outside the Grand Prix tennis tournaments Grand Prix series, and not earning any Association of Tennis Professionals ATP ranking points until 1992, when the tournament became part of the ATP Tour . While an exhibition tournament, invitations were extended to players who won a tournament title in Europe during that year. The surface of the tournament was indoor carpet. The inaugural event was held in December 1982 offering a 700,000 purse for 24 players field while the high level Super Series European Grand Prix tennis tournaments Grand Prix events like the Rome Masters Italian Open or indoor tournament in Wembley, London offered only 300,000 and 200,000 respectively. It was called European Champions Championship and from 1986 was renamed to European Community Championship ECC . Its nickname was Gold Racquet tournament because if a player won the tournament three times within a 5 year span, he would receive also a special trophy, a life size, 13.2 pound mass pound gold racquet studded with 1,420 diamonds valued at 1,000,000. The Proximus Diamond Games , a WTA Tour event held in Antwerp since 2002, has a similar trophy system. In 1985 Ivan Lendl won his 3rd title within 4 years and received the 200,000 winners prize together with the Gold Racquet. In 1991 Boris Becker spoiled Lendl s quest for a 1.25 million prize 250,000 prize money plus the 1 million racquet at the ECC in Antwerp by beating him, 6 4, 7 5, in the semifinals. Had Lendl won, he would have kept the gold and diamond racquet trophy valued at about 1 million, adding to his from 1985. He was in the running for a second after victories in 1987 and 1989, but wound up with only 100,000 that year. Infobox Court Case name Western Excavating ECC Ltd v Sharp court Court of Appeal image caption date decided full name citations 1978 ICR 221 judges prior actions subsequent actions opinions transcripts keywords Unfair dismissal Western Excavating ECC Ltd v Sharp 1978 ICR 221 is a UK labour law case, concerning unfair dismissal , now governed by the Employment Rights Act 1996 . Facts Mr Sharp was suspended without pay for 5 days because of his absences. This put him in financial difficulty, the welfare officer would not help, and so he quit so he could collect holiday pay immediately. He then claimed constructive unfair dismissal. The Employment Tribunal held that the company ought to have leant over backwards to help Mr Sharp. One member, dissenting, argued Mr Sharp should have again visited the welfare officer. The Employment Appeal Tribunal upheld the ruling, but only on the basis that the Tribunal had made findings of fact that were apparently not perverse. Judgment The Court of Appeal reversed the Tribunal and held that Mr Sharp had not been constructive dismissed at all. Lord Denning MR noted that there was a dispute about how to assess what was a constructive dismissal, partly as Megaw LJ in Turner v London Transport Executive 1977 ICR 952, 964, said that the test for whether there was a dismissal under what is now the Employment Rights Act 1996 section 95 1 c was the same as whether the dismissal was fair. But instead the ordinary contract test should apply so that a dismissal must first be established as follows. According to Lord Denning MR, Cquote If the employer is guilty of conduct which is a significant breach going to the root of the contract of employment, or which shows that the employer no longer intends to be bound by one or more of the essential terms of the contract, then the employee is entitled to treat himself as discharged from any further performance. If he does so, then he terminates the contract by reason of the employer s conduct. Hence, the Tribunal ... more details

It is a city with clear boundaries, with an optimun ratio between density and network of open public spaces defined by urban Mixed use development mixed use blocks. It is a city made of a federation of organic urban neighborhoods and districts, but it can also be a metropolis. The optimum Urban density density that characterizes the Eco Compact City allows the existence of a rich system of small retail, while allowing the creation of an efficient public transit system. The ECC allows its inhabitants to live within a Walkability pedestrian friendly environment that encourages pedestrian movements, the use of the public transit, and discourages the intensive us of automobiles. The main goal of an ECC is to create a rich interactive urban environment that optimize the use of natural resources and dramatically reduces the pollution of both the air and the natural landscape. The first pattern of a ECC was presented in Bruxelles at the Awarding Ceremony of the fr Prix europ en d architecture Philippe Rotthier Philippe Rotthier European Prize for Architecture 2008 at the Foundation for the Architecture.
