The Doctor and the Doctor s Wife is a short story by Ernest Hemingway published in his 1925 volume of short stories In Our Time . Synopsis A doctor hires a group of three Native Americans in the United States Native Americans to clean up some logs on his property, and one of the workers casually asks him where he stole them from. The doctor gets angry, and the workers eventually leave. After going back to his house, the doctor finds his wife and tells her what happened. He speculates that they started a fight with him to get out of doing the work, but she expresses doubt that anyone would do something like that. The doctor leaves the house. A Foundation Doctor FY1 or FY2 is a grade of medical practitioner in the United Kingdom undertaking the Foundation Programme a two year, general postgraduate medical training programme which forms the bridge between medical school and specialist general practice training. Being a Foundation Doctor is compulsory for all newly qualified medical practitioner s in the UK from 2005 onwards.
