Biography Andr s Rodr guez deVillegas was born in Spain , but the year of his birth is unknown. Villegas entered the body of Spanish infantry in 1604, later becoming captain. He sailed the Moluccas , the Philippines and other places where the rank of Admiral of the South Sea Pacific Ocean . Diogode Teive Braga , c.1514 after 1569 was a Portuguese people Portuguese humanist during the Renaissance . Diogode Teive was a humanist , a latinist and a typical scholar of his day a traveller, who spent most of his formative years abroad, in Europe. He would return to Portugal with Andr de Gouveia , George Buchanan and Jo o da Costa , thanks to the initiative of King John III. Buchanan, Jo o da Costa and Diogode Teive were accused of Protestantism by the Inquisition, and sentenced to imprisonment in 1550. Nonetheless, Teive did not leave the country, and he remained close to the Portuguese royal family and to the court, as a scholar and a clergyman. He died after 1569. for the scholar Diogode Teive humanist Diogode Teive was a captain and squire to the House of Henry the Navigator Infante D. Henrique during the Portugal Portuguese period of discovery. On January 1, 1451 he disembarked on the island of Terceira in the Azores from which he made his base. He realized two voyages of exploration to the West of the archipelago which then only included the Central and Eastern group . In 1452, at the end of his second voyage, he discovered the islands of Flores Island Flores and Corvo Island Corvo , which he initially believed were a new archipelago, naming them the Ilhas Floreiras or literally, the Flowered Islands , due to the abundance of flowering plants. On December 5, 1452, for his discovery, he was given a concession in the sugar cane industry on the island of Madeira by Infante D. Henrique. Some historians claim that he was responsible for the disappearance of the first Captain Major of the Captaincy of Flores, although unproven. By 1472, he had settled in Ribeira Brava, and along with his son Jo o de Teive maintained the rights to the islands until 1474, when D. Fern o Teles de Meneses married to D. Born Manuel Revuelta Ortizde Z rate Pinto in Como , Italy , he was the son of Chilean composer Eleodoro Ortizde Z rate and of Mar a Cristina Pinto Err zuriz . He was four years old when the family moved back to Chile where he went on to study painting with Pedro Lira 1845 1912 before entering the Escuela de Bellas Artes Academy of Fine Arts in Santiago, Chile Santiago . Drawn to the burgeoning art scene in France , in 1904 he sailed to Marseille then made his way to Paris, France Paris . There, he became part of the growing gathering of artists in the Montparnasse Quarter , making friends with Amedeo Modigliani and some of the other future greats of the art world.
